Welcome back! We’re following Covid-19 cleaning guidelines but please contact us first if you need more detail. Kington is a small market town off the beaten track on the Herefordshire/Welsh Border. Our cottage is in a quiet, secluded spot in the town whose amenities include food stores, cafes, takeaways and pubs. Walkers’ heaven! Offa’s Dyke Path passes within about 300m of our door. If you stay 2 nights when walking the Path, we can collect/deposit you from/to the trail free of charge.
The gardener's cottage at Newport House overlooks the organically grown 2 1/2 acre walled garden. South facing, the cottage has recently been refurbished to very high standards in oak with a thatched roof. Luxurious double bedroom and bathroom upstairs, and fully equipped kitchen and sitting room (with two person sofa bed) downstairs. Wood burning stove (as well as electric heating to keep a minimum temperature), wifi, herbs and organic fruit and vegetables on the door step freely available.
The property is a self contained annexe on the side of a stone farm house situated above the town of Hay-on-Wye, looking towards the Black Mountains, with fields that run down to the Offas Dyke pathway. It is an ideal base for walking, enjoying the River Wye or visiting Hay itself. We are very animal friendly and dogs are welcome , but will need to be kept on a lead when in the proximity of the free running poultry and sheep.
