Situated on a steep hill above the Derwent Valley, it’s a short drive or good walk to Chatsworth and Bakewell and Matlock. Nestled on the edge of Beeley Moor Copy Wood sits below woodland and is surrounded by fields grazed by sheep. A short walk down brings to Rowsley village. Dove Cottage is a former Victorian fishing lodge in a unique setting on the banks of the river Dove. It is situated 3/4 mile from the pretty village of Alstonefield and 5 1/2 miles north of the bustling market town of Ashbourne. The cottage overlooks a tranquil stretch of river running through Wolfscote Dale and a historic former water mill. A riverside footpath passes the bottom of the garden leading north along the river to Hartington and south to Dovedale and the Stepping Stones.

Originally three miners cottages, Acacia Cottage boasts three good-sized double bedrooms (one en-suite) and one study/bedroom with a sofabed, plus modern kitchen with gas range, large dining room, sitting room, study and large sunroom. Under-floor heating and wood burner make this delightful snug in winter. Good wi-fi and flat screen tv/DVD.

On the hillside below Riber Castle the property is surrounded by horse pastures and farmland. There are stunning views from every window. The house has been completely renovated with the input of an interior architect to an extremely high standard. Many of the original Victorian features have been retained and stylishly combined with a super modern kitchen and bathrooms.

Relax in our hot tub with stunning views or warm up by the wood burning stove after a winter walk. The enclosed cottage garden has a patio where you can enjoy a BBQ in the summer. Dogs welcome!
