Vad du kommer att göra

Want to learn about recording and vinyl records? This is the place! We'll start by taking an in-depth tour of our 7,000 square foot 70s themed recording studio and answer questions about the recording process. I specialize in analog recording but are also well versed in digital recording too. l'll discuss industry trends and how my business formed and has grown into other areas of the music industry. Then we'll stop into our vinyl mastering suite to learn about the first step of how vinyl records are made. We'll get super nerdy and look at grooves under a microscope and talk about the interesting world of vinyl records. We'll also talk about the "Live To Vinyl" recordings I do, which is an ultra-rare way to record music. Our next stop will be into our 3,500 square foot Vinyl Electroplating facility where you will learn all about the second step of making vinyl records. This is super behind the scenes and rarely seen by people outside of the music industry. Our last stop will be in Mara Machines, the world's largest analog tape machine restoration company. You'll see analog tape machines scattered around in various states of restoration and talk about why this company has grown and become so sought after.
Other things to note
Please use our side entrance as there may be a recording session at the time of the tour. Comfortable shoes are a plus, but not required. Photos are welcome, except in a couple areas which will be pointed out.

I'm Chris! My wife Yoli and I own one of the largest recording studios in Nashville called Welcome To 1979. I've been a recording engineer for over 20 years and have recorded some of the biggest artists alive. I specialize in "old school" recording techniques, the making of vinyl records, and restoring vintage reel to reel recorders. Yoli and I have traveled the world teaching people about these vintage passions of ours, so we decided to open the doors of our 14,000 square foot facility in Nashville for a fun and exciting look into the music industry and all things vinyl!

We had such a great time on our tour of Welcome to 1979. Our tour guide, Pieter, was awesome; personable and super knowledgeable. There is so much to this space. It's a recording studio with very cool mid century furniture and art pieces. It's what you hoped your best friend's parents basement looked like growing up (or my house now). The control board once belonged to a country music television star (we'll let Pieter tell you). We learned a ton about the process that occurs from recording to sending a master to a vinyl pressing plant. I had no idea how intricate the process was and we got to hear from others that work in different parts of the studio. Highly recommend making a stop here as part of your stay in Nashville.

Amazing tour! Our guide, Peter, was super knowledgeable, accommodating, and fun. We loved the space and felt like we were on the set of a vintage movie. We also appreciated getting a complimentary record at the end. Don’t miss this experience!

My son and I LOVED our experience at Welcome to 1979 with our guide, Peter. The studio was fascinating, quirky and full of surprises. Peter was clearly passionate about music and every detail that goes into making it. The tour was technical, anecdotal, scientific, funny, and definitely memorable. One of our favorite experiences in Nashville!
