In a short 3 minute drive you will be in downtown Marathon where you will find shopping at Front Street Books, Evans Gallery and Pitaya Verde. Stop by the famous White Buffalo Bar for an award winning margarita. Just a 45 minute drive to the entrance of Big Bend National Park where you will find incredible hiking, river rafting, bike riding as well as an opportunity to cross over into Mexico and Boquillas.

Marathon is a quaint west Texas town with a public park, gardens, restaurants and shopping. It also has a level 1 night sky rating for star gazing. Located 40 minutes from Big Bend National Park entrance, this is a launch point to explore the national park and other parks and communities.

Mountain View Guest House

A well-maintained guesthouse with the feel of the Old West. Located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but just minutes from downtown, the guesthouse is 30 feet from our house. We are very respectful of your privacy, and all of the facilities are yours to use. Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy the view, or visit with our livestock. We are pet-friendly. This structure is part of an overall experimental building project we have had going for 15 years. There are other structures on the property made from recycled materials including 'papercrete.' Free dust: it is the desert. You should not expect the Ritz Carlton, but if you have some flexibility and half a 'hippie bone' left in your body, this might be the place for you to expand. Come see us, share some travel stories and relax under and amazing milky way. No TV's in the room.

Art-Filled Marfa Adobe

Located at the western edge of Marfa, this cozy, unique adobe offers a true Marfa experience, and the best isolation and comfort for you. The house is air conditioned and heated, has wifi and a smart TV. There is one bedroom downstairs with a comfy queen sized bed and one loft bedroom upstairs with a queen sized bed and fun views. The bed is only a 3/4 bed ( wider than a twin, but less wide than a double)! The TINY cottage is situated downtown, behind the locally owned salon and barber shop, Americana. Enjoy the Backyard, adjacent to the Dragonfly Cottage!
