This guesthouse is a renovated 120-year-old traditional Japanese house located in the merchant town of Omi Hino, overlooking Mt. Watamuki in the Suzuka Mountains of Shiga Prefecture, with the concept of "nostalgic yet new." The townscape of Hino itself is somehow nostalgic and calming. "Watamukiyama Village" was born in a corner of this town in 2019. Accommodation is limited to one group at a time, and the accommodation fee starts from the rate for two people.

This traditional Japanese house has a terrace with stunning rural views and a garden with a trampolines for relaxation. Just a short taxi ride from Kosei Station, it’s 52 minutes from Kyoto via JR Kusatsu Line. Rental cars are available nearby. Drivers can use Shigaraki or Konan IC, with supermarkets and gas stations nearby. Enjoy stargazing on the trampolines or a peaceful morning walk through rice fields. Perfect for families and groups!

140-Year House | Sustainable Satoyama Stay

This is a small sustainable homestay in a 140-year-old traditional Omi merchant house. We welcome one group per day in a private section of the home where our family also lives. The spaces are gently separated by a traditional doma earthen-floor area, creating a peaceful and calm atmosphere. Rather than a sightseeing base, this is a stay where you can immerse yourself in everyday Japanese life.
