Solar-powered MatopHouse is a very carefully considered sanctuary. It's enveloped by a garden frequented by birds, hares, a mongoose and duikers, and has views of the distant Karkloof hills. The house is full of character (and books), and is a tranquil space in which to read, write, cook, create – and to simply "be". Set on a quiet eco-estate on the fringe of Howick, it is conveniently close to the Ambers, the Karkloof trails, the Midlands Meander, Midmar Dam, and numerous cafes and attractions.

Forest Falls Treehouse

Enjoy the serenity of nature on the edge of the Umgeni Valley. Conveniently placed less than 10 minutes away from Hilton Village. This is no normal cottage. Our Forest Falls Treehouse is built at the confluence of two streams. Perched amongst trees, birds are constant visitors while shy nyala often make an appearance. This self-catering cottage can be reached after a short walk in an indigenous forest down steep stairs built into a cliff face. Meals can be purchased through prior arrangements.

The Hideaway is a treat for the soul...farm vibes, 5 minutes from town and no dirt roads to navigate! How often does one get to watch duiker leaping through the grasslands ? This old farm cottage remains true to its farm beginnings, intact with rustic features such as exposed beams, rough brickwork, stained cement floors and a cosy fireplace. The braai area overlooks the beautiful sunset views. Enjoy the seclusion and privacy on the edge of a protected grassland area.

The fisherman's cottage is situated right on the water's edge and has a panoramic view of the dam and indigenous forest. Relax and enjoy the abundant bird life or tumble out of bed to cast a line for bass. The cottage is centrally located on the Midlands Meander in the Balgowan area, and is close to popular restaurants and wedding venues.
