Está situada en el pequeño y tranquilo pueblo de Basturs (Pallars Jussà), donde está uno de los yacimientos de dinosaurios más importantes de Europa. En la zona se pueden realizar múltiples actividades: visitar los Estanys de Basturs y castillos, realizar rutas de senderismo y BTT, visitar bodegas y descubrir el inmenso patrimonio natural y geológico de la comarca.

Fins a principis del segle passat la casa estava habitada. Tot i les seves reduïdes dimensions, els elements constructius que conformen l'estructura d'aquest edifici són els originals, circumstància que converteix Can Comella en un exemple valuòs de l'arquitectura tradicional de la zona.
