Ms Dawes: the couch is a three seater AND is a sofa bed. May I recommend you could have opened it.
The electric fireplace is far cleaner burning than a woodstove and doesn't fill the interior with woodsmoke.
The cleaning fee is for cleaning, not waste disposal. Guests mix their recycleables in the garbage and their garbage in the recycleables, leaving me to fish out out foreign stuff. Our garbage has to be transported to a waste transfer station. Our township rejects mixed materials. And if you have to take out your garbage, it gives consumers a chance to reflect on how much they produce. I've attended Green Party conferences of 50 people and we wouldn't even fill one bag.
The dead trees are part of the ecosystem and provides homes to fauna and flora. Bon Echo Park prohibits scavenging of the forest for this reason. And eventually the area would be denuded. To provide firewood, someone has to acquire the land, fell the trees, buy a chainsaw, provide the labour to cut, split(by hand or rent/buy a log spitter and season the wood for a min. of one year, by storing it somewhere. Where firewood is provided free, guests use large amounts, far more than if they had to buy it. Our prices are competitive with local merchants. And you don't have to go get it.
It sounds you like you should have chosen a cottage with a whirlpool tub; ours is a standard. Many cottages have only three-piece bathrooms. I can recommend nearby Black River Retreat, @ $399/night.
