Many thanks for your valued feedback and for giving us 5 stars for check-in, cleanliness, communication and location.
You awarded us 1 star only for value and accuracy, and in this respect and considering the content of your review I would like to advise as follows:
In terms of price you rented at low season and at a reduced fee. But I presume your rating reflects our satisfaction, or lack thereof, considering your overall experience.
Concerning "accuracy", the description of the penthouse clearly states that there is a live-in housekeeper and that there are security cameras on the terrace and at the entrance. I am sorry that this appears to have not been noticed by you and your guests. I have therefore provided additional information and a succinct and clear description of house rules in the "house manual" section of the listing.
We do not welcome unregistered and not pre-authorised (nocturnal or other) guests. Tourists to Brazil often tend to assume that there is a prevailing liberal societal attitude toward certain behaviours. That is not the case, and we have to be mindful of, and respectful toward, the values and expectations of our neighbours.
The species of Spider-Men only exists in Hollywood, and your humorous vignette made me smile. Unfortunately, we had real life robbers who broke into the penthouse not by climbing up the facade, but by simply climbing down a ladder from the roof at a time when renovation work had been carried out there. The CCTV cameras therefore serve a real purpose. I have also at that time decided to employ a permanent on site housekeeper and rent the penthouse (previously mostly uninhabited) on Airbnb. We have had no problems since. The cameras record on a closed and locked security system without permanent data storage. Recordings are never reviewed unless there is an untoward incident, something which has not occurred since they were installed. Privacy is guaranteed!
I am sorry you felt that Melvin was more of a chaperone than housekeeper: unfortunately, not all guests conduct themselves as we would hope (with written or unwritten rules). In your case you allowed the jacuzzi to overflow and Melvin was informed by condominium staff that water was flowing down the facade of the building. He intervened immediately and appears to have prevented any damage, complaints or claims (so far). Perhaps you should be grateful.
I am sorry that we did not live up to your expectations. I have summarised the house rules again in the "house manual" domain of this listing. We know that our rules and restrictions deter some guests, but we also hope they attract others all the more, and we know that continuing to rent on Airbnb is contingent upon a peaceful co-existence with out neighbours. We strive to both please our guests and our neighbours.
