No WiFi, Phone, TV or Hubub! Simple country style accommodations in Down East Maine... blueberries, steamers, hiking, kayaking, or MDI. Our 1800's white Victorian farmhouse is a short walk to the Town Landing where you can put in your kayak or sit and watch the family of five American Bald Eagles swoop for fish! It's within walking of quaint old Steuben village, with its historic church and Library-Community Center with WiFi. This house is in mid-restoration shape, yet elegant and comfortable.
The West bedroom is for those who like sunset views and to sleep in mornings. It has a firm queen mattress, and the first thing that impresses most people is the quiet. The room overlooks the garden, and is on the further side of the house from morning activity. It's a large room brimming with antique charm.
The front upstairs of house has a shared Bath, and downstairs has shared Kitchen, Dining Room and Parlor. Meals can be prepared separately, or cooperatively with shared responsibility and contributions. Separate guest refrigerator. Dine elegantly, relax with a book, have Tea, play the Piano, or enjoy a board game in the Parlor. Or perhaps relax in a sunny spot in a lounge chair in the spacious yard.

We enjoy chatting with guests over breakfast, with a cozy fire in the kitchen woodstove these brisk Fall mornings. One or both of us are available to advise on local activities and places to go. We treat guests like Family!

Fall is all about crisp mornings and sunny warm afternoons! Dress appropriately, in layers. We have electric oil filled radiator heaters in each bedroom, and usually a cozy fire in the kitchen woodstove early mornings and evenings. There is a country untested well and country septic. Bottled spring water is available. Respect for others and responsibility for cleaning up is shared by all. We practice sustainability and ecological conservation of resources.
Guests should help out with meals that they prepare and clean up after themselves. Children are expected to be monitored. Guests will bring their own food and a refrigerator is provided but can expect a certain amount of cooperative sharing.

Semi-retired restoration contractor. Currently developing this 1880s gingerbread house on a shoestring as a retreat and education center in Downeast Maine.
Pictures of the ongoing restoration are posted on the account The Albatross and pictures of the beautiful surrounding natural resources in features for recreational purposes are posted on Downeast Sojourn.
There are opportunities for exchange of Labor as a partial alternative to paying the full price to stay there.
Eventually the DownEast Sojourn is envisioned as a type of Club or non-profit organization to which you can belong for expanding individual and social awareness of the Land/Ocean interface which is currently on the move as a consequence of global warming.
