The house is placed right in front of the beach, which you can access through a private gate. The Mount Conero is on the back, an historical church cited in the Divine Comedy a few steps away, as well as a lake, and all around a bushy wood.
The location is the Conero Park, protected both by WWF and the Cultural Heritage Body. Here you find a series of wild-looking beaches, some of whom only reachable by sea, with white rocks and pebbles, and clear waters that awarded the European Blue Flag for the last 21 years. Mezzavalle beach, in Portonovo bay, was ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy according to Skyscanner 2015.
The house is part of the L - shaped building you can see in the last photo. It hosts 4 people with its 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, plus a living room with kitchen and fireplace, and a veranda. On the terrace you have a barbecue.
There are 2 car parking places (1 minute walk). A private car is needed.
Portonovo is an ideal location for canoeists, our 2 kayak and 1 rowboat (for max 3 people) are at your disposal. In the afternoon a pleasant sea breeze usually blows, that makes Portonovo bay a paradise for windsurfers and kite surfers. In the Conero Park, you have pathways, hiking trails and cycle routes. At a 15 minutes drive, there are a scuba diving center and an 18-hole golf course.
HISTORY AND CULTURE
The closest town is Ancona, the only Italian city with both sunrise and sunset over the sea, that offers a blend of Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantyne art. In the inland areas you find a coloured countryside, hillside villages, castles and ancient architectures. Historical towns as Urbino, Ascoli Piceno, San Marino, Macerata (whose Sferisterio hosts a great opera season), or spectacles of nature like Frasassi Caves, are 1 to 1.5 hour drive.
Conero Regional Nature Reserve is characterized by a rich and diverse mediterranean scrub vegetation, and hosts various mammals, such as polecats, badgers, foxes, hedgehogs, weasels, wild boars and roe deers. It is also a well known locality for bird watching and migration destination for birds of prey.
Conero Park is designed both as Special Protection Areas (SPA) and as Special Area of Conservation (SAC) as part of Natura 2000 network.
The house, sometimes a retreat for writers and artists, heated and fully equipped for winter, is a special starting point to explore the region, for people looking for peace and quiet, in touch with the unspoilt nature. Heating will be charged on the basis of the actual consumption.
Small food shop at 5 minutes walking (only on summer). Larger supermarkets 8 Km away. Many good restaurants at a walking distance or in the surrounding area.
The closest airport is 30 km far (Falconara Ancona). Otherwise, Rimini airport is 115 Km far.
