My apartments are located in Perama, a quiet spot near Kanoni,& Mouse Island (10 min away),Corfu town (10 min away) and the sea (5 min away). It is 300m away from a bus stop and there are mini markets near by. It is also very close to where Gerald Durrell used to live. I own 3 apartments with twin beds and 1 apartment with a double bed however if more than two people wish to stay we can add another single bed in any room. There is private parking, a kitchen, bathroom and balcony with each room.
There are many free pools around the area and nice beaches. An organized beach just across the house at few min walking.
Supermarkets , restaurants , markets near the house in walking distance or short drive.
Since you're so close to the city you can go everywhere. Perama is located on the eastern side of Corfu, 7 km south of the town of Corfu and just opposite the Mouse island and is connected with Kanoni by a pedestrian bridge. It is practically in the middle of the island. The site covers an area of about 5 km along the highway and it is situated between Corfu Town and Benitses village. The Kaiser’s Bridge was connecting the pier with a small road up the Achillion Palace and was built by the last private owner of Achilleion, the German royal family in the early 20th century, blown up again by the Germans during the German occupation for their military vehicles to pass underneath! Perama is a popular seaside tourist resort since many decades, especially during the 80s and 90s, it is surrounded by olive groves and boasts several beautiful pebble beaches. It has the privilege of the most beautiful view to the Mouse island and the monastery of Vlaherna and some restaurants and bars on the bridge to Kanoni are the best places for plane watching. Perama is famous for the panoramic views of Corfu’s most photographed sight, Mouse Island (Pontikonissi) and the magnificent sunrise. Mouse Island is stunningly beautiful, topped by a small church where weddings and christenings are performed Energetic people can swim over to the island, but boats can also be hired. On the causeway joining Perama and Kanoni there are usually fishermen casting a line into the sea or the lagoon, and keen plane spotters also, because the end of the runway is very close. The footbridge is also a popular place for an evening stroll, and also for motorbike riders taking a short cut to Corfu Town. Uphill from Perama a very attractive country lane winds its way past small chapels, and historic houses to the village of Gastouri, where the Achilleion Palace is situated, It is shaded by large trees, and makes a pleasant walk even in summer. A less well known walk is to the old aqueduct, built by the British and still in use today, not easy to find but well worth the search. Durrell enthusiasts also know that Gerald Durrell chose Perama while he stayed in Corfu. The abundant wildlife in and around the lagoon was a constant source of inspiration to the young naturalist, and there are still older residents who remember him with great fondness. A walk over the causeway to Kanoni provides quick access to Corfu Town, without having to go all round the perimeter of the airport- you can either walk the whole way to town (about 40 minutes) or pick up another bus from the promontory. The are many famous attractions in the area ,like Achileion Palace, Kaizer's bridge , the famous fishing village Benitses , etc The beaches here are small but rather spectacular. Of course all beautiful beaches of the island are easily accessible by car or by bus. All in all Perama makes an excellent base for those wishing to explore the island.
The airport is very close and the planes pass in front of the house, but Corfu airport is inside the town anyway near all hotels. There is also a traffic light in Corfu which stops the cars for the planes to pass! Usually noise is not a problem for our guest. From the main road you go up a short alley with some steps and you arrive at the house to enjoy this magnificent view!
Pets. The neighbours have cats and dogs.
There is a private parking place.
Perama is also on all bus routes to the south of the island, Messonghi, Issos, Vitalades, Lefkimi and Kavos are all accessible from the bus stop and the local bus which goes between Benitses and Corfu Town passes very frequently. The rest of the island can be easily accessed from Corfu Town.
Transport links are excellent, there are numerous interesting walks in the local area, and access to Corfu Town is easy even on foot, really close.
