Comfortable airy woodland cottage overlooking sunny marsh. Lots of windows, skylight, dappled forest light. Stays cool on warm days and warms up easily with wood stove or electric heaters on cold days.
The space was designed by an artist and meditator. He and and an architect builder built it in stages. The ceiling and roof lines are varied. The space is small but feels spacious. There is a full kitchen, small, bright living room with a lovely view, dining area, and a large work desk looking into the forest, with wifi. The master bedroom is downstairs and has a door opening into the forest and morning light, as well as windows facing into the trees. The upstairs bedroom is reached by steep boat stairs with railings on both sides. It is cosy, with each bed in its own nook, and small windows looking into the tree tops. Plenty of good varied lighting.
You will have full access to the cottage and the yard surrounding it. You are also welcome to walk through the gate to your host's garden, and sit or walk there.

We are on shallow wells here, that feed a cistern which gets rainwater in winter, so we are a little bit conservative with water usage when possible. (Country green living!)
Composting toilet (to protect the marsh and further downstream, the lake). Easy and not unpleasant to use.

You are welcome to phone or text me if you need any help with anything. I am sometimes off island working on Vancouver Island for the day, but can be reached and will get back to you within 2 hours.
I enjoy hiking, both close to home, and in the mountains on Vancouver Island. I've taught yoga and meditation for many years, and I practice most days. Favourite places besides here are Ireland, Haida Gwaii, Yukon and Ecuador, so far! I love to garden, some years more time for it than others. I used to cook for a living. I like to cook and eat with mostly locally cultivated or wild food. Some years I make meade or honey wine.
As your host I believe you'll find me friendly and helpful when needed. Other than that, you might see me watering the garden, or getting ice or food out of the freezer in the shed by the front driveway. My home is a half kilometer down a long driveway.
