The Kazbegi region (a part of a khevi district) is situated in the north of Georgia. It is a part of the northern slope of the Caucasus range and encompasses the Tergi Truso and Sno valleys. The center of the region is Stepantsminda(formerly called Kazbegi) at the foot of Mt. Kazbeg (5047m). According to the legend Prometheus was chained there by Zeus. This beautiful mountain region is easily accessible,It takes 2.5 hours by car or frequent local minibuses from the Didube bus station in Tbilisi.
