Welcome to Beach Hill, one of the most sought out neighborhoods in Santa Cruz. My cozy family-friendly Newly UPDATED & REMODELED, 1868 Painted Lady purple Victorian home is a quick and easy walk to the BEACH, BOARDWALK OR DOWNTOWN to the restaurants, bars, & cafes! View the beautiful Pacific Ocean as you step outside, and enjoy the soothing ocean breeze. This is your perfect destination to escape and relax, in paradise.

1. **ATTENTION! VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THIS BEFORE REQUESTING TO BOOK!**

Airbnb collects occupancy tax for different areas of Santa Cruz, and on other listings you will see the tax on the check out line when you book. However, because of my location in the city limits, I must collect it and remit it myself. I so wish that Airbnb could collect it for me like the other listings but the city will just not allow it. Thus, I am forced to request it directly from you after you make your booking. The Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), is 11% of the nightly rate (before fees) for each night you stay. Per Santa Cruz City law, I am required as a short term rental host to collect this and remit it to the city directly. I will make the request through the Resolution Center on the Airbnb site. By requesting to book my house, you are agreeing to pay the tax within 14 days of arrival. Airbnb will not allow me to make the request for the tax until it is 14 days before your arrival. I will send the request manually and you will receive an email from Airbnb. I will send a link to the Resolution Center for ease in the process.

2. There are 15 steps upstairs to the upstairs portion of the house.

3. There are three bedrooms upstairs. One of the three rooms has a second television in it, so by day it can be the social room, and at night, a bedroom. In this room there is a brand new comfy pull out memory foam mattress sofa bed that can sleep two people. I can leave the sofa bed made up for you, or leave it as a sofa and have linens, blankets, and pillows for you to make the bed when you are ready to convert it.

4. There is a full kitchen downstairs, with oven and dishwasher. Upstairs has a small kitchen with oven.

5. The city of Santa Cruz has very strict rules on recycling. On the blue bin, which is only for recyclable items, there is a very clear explanation of what is allowed in it. If the bin gets contaminated with food waste, we get fined. If we have to sort the recycling for you, there will be a $50 charge.

6. This house is in a residential neighborhood. There are families with young children and students as our neighbors. You are welcome to have a gathering of the guests included when you make the reservation, but loud parties and extra guests are not acceptable. If we get complaints from the neighbors, you are putting our ability to be hosts into risk, and we will have to ask you to leave the premises.


Also of note: My parents are local artists and several of their pieces are on display in the house. Some of these pieces are available for purchase. Prices available upon request.

The backyard is also available for your use. Propane BBQ available upon request, with the agreement that you clean it after use.

We have a driveway which can fit three cars+ comfortably! Additional parking explanation will be given in check in instructions.

A portable crib is available upon request.

There is a keypad lock. We will provide you the code on the day of arrival. We will not know the code until right before check in and will send it to you via the Airbnb message board.

There is a door at the top of the stairway that can be locked if toddlers are a concern.

The door to the laundry room will remain locked. If you are staying for more than two days, we will provide the code so that you are able to do some laundry if you need to.

I strive to prepare the house as quickly as possible so that you may enjoy as much time as possible in our home. If I do happen to finish preparation before 4 PM, I will contact you through the message board. I will send you the code as soon as the house is ready.

For guests that are planning on going to The Boardwalk during the summer:
Consider staying with us on a Monday or a Tuesday, as the Boardwalk has $1.50 rides, hot dogs, cotton candy & soda from 5PM to closing. It's a great bargain and tons of fun!

The house is equipped with basic spices, oils, salt/pepper, etc. in the kitchen. We have lots of extra towels, blankets and pillows.

You will not be charged for the deposit. It is only an agreement that if you were to damage the house (spill wine on the carpet, break a window, etc) you agree to be financially responsible.

Please be respectful and courteous of our home. We ask of our guests to treat our space as if it were your own, please be mindful of the hardwood floors, our belongings and art, and please just respect the space. We also please ask to be respectful of our neighbors and to keep noise to a minimum after 10PM, as the city of Santa Cruz has a noise ordinance after that time. We include an informational pamphlet on all things Santa Cruz - dining suggestions, things to do (in walking and driving distance) and a map of everything in the downtown area.
