Welcome to State Bridge! I hope you have a comfortable, pleasant stay. One thing is for sure: you won't feel like you're anyplace else! One key is to know what to expect, so please review this "House Manual," and let me know if you have any questions. I live in one of the cabins, so I'm almost always here and available, and I'm largely sharing the experience - Doug.

HOUSE MANUAL (aka stuff you should know):

LOCATION: We are right where Highway 131 crosses the Colorado River, at the north end of the bridge. If coming from I-70, take exit 157 toward Steamboat Springs. You may find more directions and a map at http://www.statebridge.com/direction/.

ARRIVAL: If the store is open, please stop by to check in. (Please note that check in time is after 4 pm.) It is the first building from the bridge, with a big sign saying "STORE. It should generally be open before 8 pm. If not, use the phone outside the store (around the corner) to call the number posted on the door. If it's after 8, and the store is closed, go straight to the unit, where you should find it unlocked, with keys hanging on the inside doorknob. The cabins are along the road, and yurts 1-6 are up our driveway. Yurt 7 is accessed via a one-lane loop driveway off the road, up the hill. It may help to call ahead and let me know your estimated arrival time (970-653-4444).

ASSISTANCE: If you have any questions, or anything is not to your satisfaction, please let me know as soon as you can, and I will do what I am able in order to correct it. It beats learning of a problem after a guest has left. To find me, look in the store. If I am not there, try the outdoor phone to call the number posted on the door (330-635-6711), or knock on Cabin 3, which is inside the fence.

ENVIRONMENT
Please be advised that State Bridge is in a remote, high desert wilderness. It's not for everyone. We are 20 miles from towns, stores, and gas. Guests may encounter the following conditions, for which exceptions to the cancellation policy cannot be made:
TRAIN NOISE: Please be advised that trains pass close by, between State Bridge and the river, including 1-3 during the night. Some are loud, and some people are bothered by them.
DRYNESS AND DUST: Dust is in the air, and things get dusty quickly. A small amount may be expected in your unit when there is no snow cover.
MICE: Mice live here. We take measures to reduce them, but can't eliminate the chances of encountering one in your lodging unit.

NO SMOKING All of our lodging units are non-smoking. There will be a charge of $150 if smoking does occur inside any unit, including the bath house. You may smoke outside the units, using the designated smoking receptacles, provided the smoke does not impinge on other guests.

CANCELLATION: Please refer to "State Bridge Guest Terms and Policies" or, if applicable, Airbnb policies.

WIFI is available in the cabins, yurts, store, and most areas between. All out networks begin with the letters “SB.” The current password is: bloodymary. If that does not work, please ask.

CHECKOUT time is 11:00 am, and extra charges may be assessed for late checkout if housekeeping is needed. Please ask before you overstay. To check out, please leave your keys in the dropbox by the store door. Please don't bother making the beds, and leave any State Bridge towels in your room.

PARKING for CABINS:
Parking is not legal along the road, but you may stop in front of the cabins to load and unload. You may park in either:
A) the riverside lot across the road, which starts near the store, or
B) in the lot up the driveway that goes past the store.

PARKING for YURTS: You may park in front of your yurt. If you are in Yurt 7 and have multiple cars, you may wish to park one or more across the road.

PHONES: There is no cell service within about 7 miles. We have an "emergency phone" outside the store that you can use any time, even if it's not an emergency. Calls over wifi usually work fine.

BEDDING: All cabins come with full bedding, as do yurts 1-3. Yurts 4-7 come with a fitted sheet and pillows with pillowcases on each mattress. Bring your own sleeping bag or sheets and blankets, or rent for $15 per mattress. Please note, we do not include maid service.

BATHING: The bath house has four individual bathrooms, each with a shower. Two have doors on the front, two on the left. Your key will open any of them. The bath house is among the cabins, off the walkway along Trough Road. It is between cabins 6 and 7. It is about a 90-second walk from the yurts.

FOOD: We have a few things at the store, where guests get 20% off food and beverages. You may want to bring your own. The closest supermarket/grocery is 20-24 miles away (Edwards or Eagle). Each unit has a small refrigerator. You should bring your own dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. Certain items may be available to borrow if you discover you need any.

COOKING: All units have a microwave oven. The cabins have propane grills on their porches. The yurts have charcoal grills on their decks. Propane grills are also available in the outdoor common area. You may bring your own propane or charcoal, or purchase some at the store. Propane tank rentals are $4 per day. A 2.5 lb load of charcoal is $4.

COFFEE: Coffee is available at the store, but it is not always open early. Cabins 4, 5, 9, and 10, and Yurt 3, have a Keurig-style coffee maker that you can use to brew coffee using “K-pods.” They are available at the store at a reduced guest price of $1 each, along with free cups, creamer, sugar, and napkins. Water may obtained in the bath house. Spring water is available for purchase at the store.

WASHING: There is a utility sink in the first room on the right side of the bath house, which people use to wash dishes and things. There are coin-operated washers and dryers in the room past that. Quarters and detergent pods are available at the store.

DOGS: Pit bulls are not permitted on State Bridge property. Dogs must be declared at or before check-in. Guests are responsible for any damages incurred by their pets, cleaning up waste, and keeping the pet under control. Hair on bedding or couches, and uncleaned dog poop, will result in cleaning charges of $15 per incident, or more in unusual cases. This includes service animals and emotional support animals.

RIVER ACCESS: You can walk down to the river directly across the road from our store. For fishing, swimming, or floating you may wish to access it elsewhere, so please ask.

THE BRIDGE: It is illegal (as posted) and extremely dangerous to walk across the bridge. There is no space on the sides, and large trucks cross it frequently. Do not do it.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL IN YURTS: The yurts can get very warm in the sunlight, and I don't recommend spending the day inside during the summer. To control the temperature in your yurt
• Remove or attach the clear plastic window covers that are on each window or rolled up beneath a bed.
• Crank up or down the dome at the top, using the long pole that should be hanging near your door.
• Turn on or off the ceiling fan using the dimmer switch by the door.
• Turn on or off, or adjust, the electric heater and/or propane heater. If the propane heater is off, please read the directions by the control knob. (Note: the electric heater puts out 5000 BTU/hr, and the propane heater puts out 9000 BTU/hr.)

Thank you for choosing to stay at State Bridge!

Bond, Colorado, USA

8 Cabins and 8 Yurts, surrounded by the Colorado River, thousands of acres of public land, the Colorado River Headwaters Scenic Byway, and the Amtrak California Zephyr rail route. Please be advised that trains pass close by, between State Bridge and the river, including 1-2 during the night. They may be loud. State Bridge is very much about its setting: heaven to many, and satisfying to most. It may not be the best choice for those who would rather be at a hotel in town. It's dusty. There are trains, chipmunks, and the occasional mouse. The internet is fast, but there is no cell service, except through our wifi. Stores and restaurants are far away, though our general store has some basics. It's comfortable, but not luxurious - unless you count a glorious view and surroundings, and great outdoor recreation, including superb rafting and trout fishing.

I live onsite in Cabin 3, which is inside the fence. I can usually be found in the store, and am glad to help. I generally leave the store between 8 and 9 pm. Please feel free to knock on Cabin 3 if I am not there.
