Step back in time and enjoy the unique setting of a 1920 design railroad car ferry. For 50 years the Steamship City of Milwaukee crossed Lake Michigan carrying freight on her car deck. The upper decks including passenger and Officer rooms are available for you to enjoy. The Railroads executive room is outfitted with one double bed and a settee. Beautifully appointed in oak trim and styled with craftsman elegance.
The SS City of Milwaukee is a National Historic Landmark; as such we expect guests to show respect to this piece of history as well as the historic exhibits. We ask guests to respect our neighbors by keeping quiet during hours between 11:00pm to 8:00am. As this is a historic ship, caution is expected to be exercised when moving about the ship. Lower decks are not accessible during overnights, but tours are offered. during regular tour hours from 11am to 5pm. There are many stairs to be climbed to reach the passenger deck. If you have difficulty climbing stairs there is a chairlift available for your use. We also suggest only bringing a small overnight bag for your stay as the rooms are not large and carrying large bags up the stairs can be cumbersome.
