We are so sorry that Eve did not enjoy Hilo. Her cleaning fee has, in fact, been refunded. We had to send housekeeping to investigate first and make sure that the unit did not need cleaning.
We don't understand why Eve was surprised that there was no A/C. It has never been advertised. Like many condo buildings in the area, Maunaloa Shores does not even allow it. With daytime highs of 82 degrees and night time lows in the upper 60s to low 70s year round, A/C is unnecessary and almost unheard of here in East Hawaii. Out of the hundreds of properties that we have represented over the years, we've seen less than 1% with A/C. But it wasn't' the heat that bothered Eve, it was the humidity.
This is such an important reminder for guests to PLEASE do research before you book a trip somewhere. In the past, travel agents worked hard to educate travelers and make sure they understood the unique aspects of various locations and amenities that are offered at a particular property. These days, that responsibility falls on the traveler. Please don't make assumptions. If there are amenities you require, take the time to read the listing and make sure they are advertised. If you humidity bothers you, check the climate of the area you are thinking about visiting. Giving a poor review because of issues that arise solely from one's own lack of due diligence is unseemly, and has a very negative impact on the owner of the property, who did nothing wrong.
