Quiet road three miles from Salisbury on a good bus rout. Local pubs and shops just a few minutes walk away.
Janet's house is located on a quiet street in Wilton which is a town located only 5 km west of Salisbury. It is only a 8 minute walk to Wilton's market square or a 50 minute walk (20 min bus) on a variety of roads & footpaths to Salisbury. A variety of pubs, restaurants, and shopping is available in the market square although you will have to navigate their opening times. I recommend Cafè Blend for breakfast and lunch, and the Wheatshief pub (4 minutes further) for a late afternoon pint and a conversation. The weekday daytime Reds busing to Salisbury, on the #3 & #8, is excellent; the evening and weekend busing is pallatable; but weekend evening service shuts down far too early. First also offers good service between Bath and Salisbury (through Wilton) on the #265. You can also catch the lean Reds service to Shaftsbury and Gillingham. From Salisbury, Reds offers good bus service to many surrounding cities & towns. But the gem here is that Salisbury sits on the crossroad of train sevice from London to Exeter and Cardiff to Portsmouth. The whole English southwest and much of the south is easily acessible. Wilton offers good acess to a huge area, a quiet place to relax after an adventurous day, as well as sitting on numerous footpaths for a wonderful day of rambling. Janet offers an excellent bedroom to rest after a long day with a comfortable bed, full closet, dressers, and a shared bathroom with a super shower. In addition to being a kind and welcoming person, Janet keeps the house very clean. Having run a business in Wilton she is a wealth of information about the area. She takes an interest in your travels and has suggestions for things not shown in the tourist brochures. (Ask her about her years in France.) If you are wondering about something or need something (wi-fi, laundry, drying rack), just ask her. I spent 6 weeks here and highly recommend Janet as a host.
Spending time with Jan was one of the most enjoyable, unforgettable and funniest moment in the UK. She is easy going and nice, always makes you feel comfortable. You are free to talk to her just like a family. The house is really nice, the room is very cosy. Toilet is always clean. I am so glad to meet her. I really really really had great time with Jan and also her friends. I hope see Jan in the near future. Highly recommended!!!
I run the local deli in Wilton, so you can be sure of a warm welcome, great coffee and continental breakfasts. I'm outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, and most of my working life has been in hospitality. I lived in France for eight years where I ran a local bistro and also a G…
