Island
“A lot of people like to visit Suomenlinna sea fortress when they visit Helsinki. It's a historical island with a number of old military structures and wooden houses. It has a special charm and the boat trip to the island is a good chance to have a different view of the city. It is not spectacularly beautiful but it has a totally different ambience than the center of the city.”

Konstmuseum
“A visit to Kiasma is worth every visit. If the exhibitions do not light up, the atmosphere and architecture of the building will always be enjoyable - and at least one or two interesting works or new acquaintances will usually be on display. Kiasma's small museum shop is a great place to discover, especially for those who "already have it". The Kiasma Café serves snacks and good coffee, drinks and a very good lunch.”

Street Art
“This is the classic department store, which regrettably has lost some of it's former glory, but it's still an interesting place to visit, especially if you need to get a lot of small errands and shopping done in one go.”

Kafé

“The top 1 tourist attraction in Helsinki seems to be this little cafe by the sea in Töölö. The nice thing is, it's also frequently visited by locals so it's not "made for tourists". Worth a visit for sure!”

Theme Park
“Welcome to the funniest part of Helsinki! Linnanmäki is an amusement park full of fun and delicacies. The most popular amusement park in Finland opened its doors already in 1950 and attracts over one million visitors every year. Linnanmäki has over 40 amusement park facilities, plenty of games, activities, restaurants and cafes. By far the most popular piece of equipment in the amusement park is the classic classic: a wooden roller coaster of 1951. Linnanmäki is maintained by the Children's Day Foundation, which donates funds raised from the Linnanmäki box office each year to child welfare work. By having fun in Linnanmäki, you also support Finnish child welfare work.”

Kyrka
“The white cathedral that overlooks Helsinki has become a symbol of the nation’s capital and one of the two national shrines together with Turku Cathedral. Helsinki Cathedral was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel and completed in 1839. The steps leading up to the cathedral are used as both a stage and seating for events held in Senate Square. Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square are among the most recognisable sights in Helsinki.”

“Hakaniemi market hall is the more affordable option for those who are looking for groceries and farm products. There are also a few ethnic food markets in the vicinity. The market hall has been moved to a temporary boxy building while the actual old market hall is being renovated.”

“Small island just outside of city center that is Open-Air Museum of the traditional Finnish way of life is displayed in the cottages, farmsteads and manors of the past four centuries that have been relocated from all around Finland. The museum is open during summers, but the buildings are there all year round and there is nice paths around the island for small hike or running. ”

Monument / sevärdhet
“Out of 600 steel pipes, the monument in the Töölö district is huge. The statue by sculptor Eila Hiltunen is 8.5 meters high, 10.5 meters long and 6.5 meters deep. Underneath it is free to travel, and through the pipes you can hear wind noise, hum and echo. The statue was opened to the public in 1967 and blends well with the surrounding cliffs and trees. The sculpture is like a large organ, each of them should interpret it in their own way. The park around the sculpture has a quiet and free walking area.”

Park
“Kaivopuisto is the classic park in Southern Helsinki, hosting concerts and events during summertime. There is a lonely observatory and historical villas, often housing embassies of various caountries. Be sure to check out the boats and the lovely seaside walk if you venture this far South during your visit.”
