Parks & Nature
Our favorite place to walk and explore nearby! Fern Ridge is a beautiful lake and wildlife area with a variety of outdoor recreation options, from picnicking and swimming to birding and paddle boarding. Several walking trails to explore, plus a marina, boat launch, and campground.
Our favorite trail is just a few miles South of here on Clear Lake Road. There is a free parking and a trail head on the South side of the road, right before the dam, across from West Kirk Park. From there, you can walk the mostly paved path along the lake through a nice county park.
If you go a little past the dam, there is another park on the lake, but there is a fee to park in the lot. There is also a small convenience store and drive-through coffee stand near that park if you're looking for snacks and/or beverages!
