Kuirau Park has steaming vents, boiling mud pools, and hots pools you can soak your feet in. The cycle trail winds its way through the park and there is plenty of space to wander around, picnic etc. There is also a playground for the children.

Natural hot water springs in a stream, surrounded by bush - heaven! Just be aware that putting your head under the water is NOT advised due to the possibility of amoebic meningitis.

A short 10 minute walk from home along Paradise Valley Road you will find the Violet Bonnington Nature Walk, a 3km Loop track on the shoulder of Mt Ngongotaha through native bush, with informative signs along the way. Also the Jubilee Track which goes to the top of Ngongotaha, although sadly, without any views from the top.

Thermal valley - a great place for a walk in nature. At 10am every day the Lady Knox Geyser plays, so aim to be there about 30 mins beforehand to get set up. A large mud pool is just down the road from Wai-o-tapu and is free of charge. Finish your day with a dip in the hot springs, either Kerosine Creek, Butchers Pool (both free) or at Waikite Valley Pools.
