Sightseeing
This is a major reason why people come to Rovaniemi, and you can almost walk there from our property (1 h walk), or 7 min by taxi (16 EUR). You can see Santa Claus 365 days a year, take photos with him, send postcards from the Arctic Circle with a post stamp saying "Arctic Circle" on them. Santa resides in his own village that feature loads of shops, outlets, souvenirs.
There are also good cross country skiing tracks around Santa Claus' village

Parks & Nature
Lots of outdoor activities: there is a downhill ski resort with three lifts, excellent for beginners and families. It's just 2 km from our property, so you can basically walk there or take a taxi.
You can also do snow-shoe walking on the hills (we can give you two pairs of snowshoes for free when you stay at our property). Of course cross country skiing is possible too at Ounasvaara, with an extensive net of skitracks that have lighting at night too. You can use our x country gear for free if you don't want to rent.
In summer, the chair-lift brings you up the hill and you can do summer sledging there. You can also do mountain biking on these slopes

This is a great spot to grill, to climb a small wooden tower, from which you have a great view 360 degrees around. If you would go there at northernlights time, the view would be stunning! But it's NOT EASY to find. Maybe that's why not that many tourists go there. But if you know where, it's not far to walk. Try to use a map navigator on your phone. It should show the official trail there. It's great for snowshoeing in winter, or hiking in summer. There is also very good berry picking and mushrooming spots there in autumn

But it's NOT EASY to find. Maybe that's why not that many tourists go there. But if you know where, it's not far to walk. Try to use a map navigator on your phone. It should show the official trail there. It's great for snowshoeing in winter, or hiking in summer. There is also very good berry picking and mushrooming spots there in autumn

Arktikum is much more than a museum: it's an exhibition centre about everything in the Arctic, plus it hosts Lapland's provincial museum. It has also an art gallery where University artists exhibit, and it has a scientific and popular library. Right next to is is also the forestry exhibition centre where you can try to cut forest on an industrial forestry machine simulator. Arktikum has also a restaurant

The closest bus stop is 1 km away from the property, at the K market and Shell express petrol station, at the crossing of Kuusamontie and Napappirintie. The bus stop is called 'Suutarinkorva', and bus number 8 brings you to the centre, and also to City market (2 min bus drive)
