Very unique, one-of-a-kind bar run by a guy that goes by Commie (Kamal is her actual name). No TVs, just a great environment that is very conducive to conversations over great beers and some tasty bar food.

If you love beer, this is a great place to start if you're in the U Street corridor. Small, hole in the wall like place with friendly staff and 0% pretense.

Great place for German beer. There are a lot of rules that keep the vibe mellow: no standing, no talking loud, etc.

Fantastic Bar with wide selection of beer. Semi-intimate space. You have to have a seat at the bar or a seat at the table. They don't allow it to get packed or for people to stand. Just a cool place that's not too loud and can talk and drink great beer.
