Rakuan.kitano is a 2- floor detached house．Located near the east gate of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, this is one of the most visited shrine in Kyoto, characterized by a majestic main building and related to the spiritual power of the God of learning. The nearby Kamishichiken street is one of the most picturesque of Kyoto, being the oldest flower street and just next to your homestay. Japannese teahouses are arranged on both sides of the road in an orderly manner,and often used by Geishas and Maikos.

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Our house is a privately reserved traditional Kyoto machiya townhouse. Unlike a hotel, the entire house is exclusively for your group, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful and authentic stay in a local Kyoto neighbourhood. Inside the house you will find traditional tatami rooms, natural materials such as wood and clay walls, and a small garden with an open-air bath featuring a Shigaraki ceramic tub. ２０２６年８月からゲストハウスの運営主体が変更になっています。サービス、ハウスルール等が若干異なりますのでリピーターの方はご注意ください。 江戸時代に建てられた２階建ての土蔵を改装し、ゲストハウスとしました。 広くはないですが、土壁や太い梁など土蔵の雰囲気を残しながら、１階にIHクッキングヒーター付きのキッチンを設置。１階、２階にエアコンを完備し、快適に過ごせます。土蔵ならではの遮音性や夏の涼しさ、冬の暖かさを体験いただけます。 車で5分ほどでサウナ施設、15分程度のところに姉川温泉、20分ほどで北近江の湯があります。 周辺はたびたび歴史の舞台となった長浜ならではの観光スポットが多くあります。 琵琶湖周辺のほか、日本最古の鉄道駅舎・長浜鉄道スクエアや子供も遊べるヤンマーミュージアム、黒壁スクエアなど歴史以外の楽しみもいっぱいです。 近江牛、鴨料理、焼鯖そうめん、のっぺいうどん、サラダパンや鴨、小鮎などグルメも楽しめます。
