This comfortable, updated stone-built cottage is the ideal base for an adventurous break in the Snowdonia National Park. At the base of the Nant Peris Valley, one of the most dramatic in Britain, it is perfectly located for climbing Snowdon. The accommodation is great for one or two couples, or a small family. In our tiny village of Nant Peris we have a great local pub with ales, good food and an inglenook fire a stroll from your front door. Castles, beaches and adventures- Snowdonia has it all.
The ground floor is open plan. The lounge/diner area has a satellite TV and WIFI, although it's not the fastest! The area is centrally heated in cold weather and there is a log effect heater for any chilly evenings. Nant Peris is a small village with a long history. It is much older than the nearby, larger village of Llanberis. We have no shop but we do have our Pub and 14th century church. For shopping,Restaurants etc a short drive or 25 minute walk gets you to Llanberis, which is also a centre for outward bound pursuits including climbing, canoeing, wild swimming, paddle boarding, triathlons and the list goes on... A very unique cosy property converted from an old stone outbuilding. The cottage is on the bank of the Caseg river and surrounded by a quiet garden, providing an excellent retreat, while only 5 minutes walk from the amenities of the local village Bethesda. Take a local walk in the Ogwen valley, to Zip World or access climbing, walking, mountain biking and kayaking activities in Snowdonia directly from the cottage. A relaxing evening soak in the hot tub can be recommended.
The driveway leads to plenty of parking. A paved patio area with seating and BBQ / fire pit adjoins the garden with the river only 5m away. A storage shed for wet gear and equipment is next to the front door. Once inside, a compact kitchen comprises of a double hob, oven, kettle, toaster and fridge. There is seating around the table for four. The living and dining area then leads through to a double bedroom and separate wet shower room and toilet. The entire cottage has under floor heating. A large secluded hot tub can be enjoyed at the rear of the cottage next to the river.
The main house and cottage is set in a secluded, large, riverside garden. Bethesda town has many amenities - pubs, take aways, a small Tesco and Londis. It is possible to walk from the house almost without using any roads to complete leisurely local walks down to the river Ogwen, to Zip World (restaurant) or to access the Carneddi mountain range. Kayakers with experience can paddle from the garden down the Caseg river before joining the Ogwen, one of the best rivers for white water in Wales. More gentle water activities can be had on the lake at Llanberis and there are numerous wild swimming opportunities. We have a number of canoes and kayaks available to loan, but you do so at your own risk! Mountain bike trails are plentiful in the area, or quiet roads for those that prefer. Rock climbing and bouldering are easily accessed in the Ogwen or Llanberis Valley. For those that prefer, the beaches and surfing on Anglesey are only a 30 minute drive. North Wales has a wide range of tourist attractions for visitors of all ages, including castles, National Trust properties, Zip World, Bounce Below, Tree Tops, the Great Orme, Llanberis slate museum and Electric Mountain, The Greenwood Centre , Foel Farm and the Anglesey Sea Zoo all on our doorstep. Bangor, Caernarfon, Conwy and Llandudno all have great restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as theatres and cinemas.

Welcome to our newly converted chalet located at the bottom of our garden at the foot of the Carneddau Mountain Range in Bethesda. It contains a brand new small kitchen with all basic utensils, pots, pans, kettle, toaster and electric hobs. We also supply tea, coffee and milk. The bed is a SOFA BED. It is a stones throw away from the famous 'Zipworld' (15 min walk) and the Carneddau mountain range (10 min walk), and a short drive from Snowdon (15 min). Perfect location to experience Snowdonia.
The chalet is located at the bottom of our garden. Newly converted it is the ideal location for exploring all that Snowdonia has to offer. You’re more than welcome also to use our spacious garden. Parking is a problem in the area but not at Fron Isaf where you will have your own parking bay.
Bethesda is a vibrant working town. The Penrhyn Slate Quarry, now home to Zip World, used to be the largest Slate Quarry in the world, employing up to 3000 workers at its hight. Today the number is far lower and tourism has become more important. Nevertheless the spirit of the village and its Welshnes lives on in its residents. The George (Y Sior) is a 5 minute walk from the property. Serving locally brewed cask ales and a warm Welsh welcome I would recomend a visit. If you choose not to use the newly installed kitchen in the Fron Isaf there is ample choice of food available on the high street and nearby. Ranging from take aways to resteraunts. Bethesda is a haven for walkers. Close to all the major mountain ranges of Snowdonia and within walking distance (literally a couple of minutes walk) of the Carneddau mountain range. Buses also run all day from Bethesda through Nant Francon towards Cwm Idwal and Llyn Ogwen and Capel Curig amd Betws y Coed.

From the cottage itself you are afforded the most awe-inspiring views of the Snowdon Range. The cottage has been recently refurbished & sleeps 4 people in 2 double rooms. The drive is steep but there are options to park at the bottom. We will contact you on the day of your booking to let you know check in details.
THE VALLEY - Nant Gwynant Directly from the bottom of the drive you can walk along the Glaslyn river, which has its source from the top lake of Snowdon and flows out into the Irish Sea at Porthmadog. A ten minute walk down river will take you to the start of the Watkin Path - a spectacular route up Snowdon, taking you through ancient oak woodland, besides waterfalls and blue pools, ruins of old mines, and finally up to the summit of Snowdon itself. Caffi Gwynant is also on your doorstep, serving delicious local food. Two lakes are also within easy reach. There is Llyn Dinas - a beautiful lake around which skirts a well-marked path to the picturesque and historic village of Beddgelert. And, in the opposite direction, is Llyn Gwynant. From here, depending on the season, you can hire canoes, paddles boards etc., and eat stone-baked pizzas by the lake, giving you time to appreciate the awe-inspiring views. Beginning in Beddgelert, there is wide variety of walks that will take you through forests, up mountains, along the Glasyn river as its cuts and plunges its way through the mighty Aberglaslyn gorge, and walks that will take you back to Celyn. CLOSEST TOWN - Porthmadog Porthmadog is a small Welsh coastal town. It lies 11.4 miles from Celyn (23min drive). It has major supermarkets and all you would need from a town. It developed in the 19th century as a port exporting slate to England and elsewhere, but since the decline of the industry it has become a shopping centre and tourist destination. Porthmadog is the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway. Within walking distance are the pretty seaside villages of Borth-y-guest & Morfa Bychan. The welsh coastal path passes through Porthmadog, taking walkers along the banks of the Glaslyn Estuary, providing views of mountain peaks and shimmering bays. If you are lucky you might also spot Ospreys hunting over the waters during the summer season before they migrate to Africa in the early autumn. Porthmerion is also nearby, a famous, and otherworldly Italianate-styled town situated on the banks of the Dwyrd estuary. SNOWDON - Routes up WATKIN PATH is a 10 minute walk from the cottage. It is one of the quieter and tougher routes up Snowdon. MINERS & PYG TRACK starts at Pen Y pass carpark - 11min (4.7 mi). They are arguably the most popular routes up Snowdon. CRIB COCH is an iconic grade 1 scramble and not for the inexperinced! Start point is Pen Y Pass car park. LLANBERIS PATH - 23min (10.3 mi) this is the easiest route up Snowdon. Set on the Glyder mountain range, opposite Snowdon , 'Myn Mawr' is the ultimate getaway from 21st century living. It is a completely unique 18th century cottage, so please read the listing carefully and fully before booking. With unparalleled dramatic mountain views, this little cottage has been subject of poetry and has been painted in watercolor by the British artist David Bellamy for his exhibition 'Wild Wales'.
The cottage is ancient and offers guests the chance to 'step back in time . Please read this listing FULLY before asking to book for Myn Mawr is totally unique and, is also our home. This is the true ethos of Airbnb. There is no chintz and the cottage is basic and unspoilt and unaltered from the late 17th century. At any time, you will see wild goats, birds of prey circling overhead; the robin at the window of the crog loft bedroom. It is as though one actually becomes one with the mountain, yet the village of Llanberis is only 2.5 miles down the road, as it winds its way to the magnificent Llyn Padarn. The cottage is a traditional Welsh mountain cottage, approx. 250 years old, yet completely unspoiled. It has been the inspiration for numerous poets and artists, and was written about in the acclaimed novel 'I Bought a Mountain'. It is a place of unparalleled beauty and complete tranquility. The British 1953 Everest Expedition trained in the area and were based less than half a mile from the cottage at The Pen-y-Gwyrd which is at the Eastern end of the Llanberis Pass. Living room with wood burner, kitchen, basic bathroom facilities, double crog loft bedroom, garden, mountains, river & waterfall to the rear of the cottage. You will have the cottage all to yourselves, and we trust you will respect it, and be as happy during your visit as we are when we come home for our visits! It is the most beautiful experience and we never ever tire of the sheer beauty and ancient magic the mountains exude. Even when it rains, it is cosy and delightful. The cottage is clean but can be a little dusty, due to its positioning on the mountain. It is not 'squeaky clean' - It is a home and has a lovely authentic ambience so please bear this in mind when booking. It is not a sterile bed & breakfast. It is utterly unique. Please note: Towels are NOT provided. We will exchange telephone numbers & email to ensure guests have all they need. A friend does the housekeeping and is only minutes away if needed. You will have complete privacy during your stay. Please note that Myn Mawr is listed on other sites and when not occupied by AirBnB guests, either ourselves or other guests will be staying there. Lovely little village pub with open fires, folk music nights & great food just 5 minutes walk, yet the atmosphere at the cottage is one of complete tranquility; astonishing beauty and a true sense of peace. At night the soothing sound of the river will lull you to sleep. Perfect for romantic weekends, hiking, climbing or chilling out. Truly, an idyllic little cottage set in the magnificent Snowdonia National Park. A car is essential. The Snowdon Sherpa runs from the bus stop at the bottom but a car is better. There is a drivable track all the way to the cottage. It is wise to walk the track first before driving as it can be narrow in parts. One can walk or drive up the path. Its up to you! Walking is the best way to truly appreciate the sublime savage beauty of the area. Countless rivulets of mountain springs will refresh you along the way, wherever you choose to wander. The cottage is basic, beautiful, but not luxurious. Guests need to be prepared to 'rough it'. The winds can gust and weather changes can occur quickly, though this adds to its charm as one is part of the entire experience. A mountain cottage is unlike any other type of house. The walls of the cottage are deep and rugged to offer shelter from its exposed (Website hidden by Airbnb) is part of the mountain and one truly experiences nature when in the cottage. The area has its own 'micro climate' as it is surrounded totally by the majestic mountains. 'Myn Mawr' has not been extended or greatly changed during its lifetime, and has great historic significance in the area. Living room with wood burner, kitchen, basic bathroom facilities, double crog loft bedroom, garden, mountains, river & waterfall to the rear of the cottage. • Härlig liten stuga som backar in i skogen. Mycket rena och stora värdar. Definitivt kommer att besöka igen

    Philip2019-12-22T00:00:00Z

    Jan2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastisk mysig stuga i vackra miljöer.

A beautiful cottage in the Llanberis Pass, occupying a stunning spot on Snowdon itself. Bordered by a stream and river; access is across a private wooden bridge. Incredible views and straight up onto the mountain for walkers and climbers. *1 dog permitted only by prior agreement - due to livestock etc - and a £20 pet fee, to be paid on arrival.
Delightful mountain cottage in the heart of the Welsh 3000s, with direct routes up to the peak of Snowdon, Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan. Wake up each day to enjoy the fascinating and ever changing landscape, enjoying that first coffee/tea overlooking a mountain stream. We keep free range rescue chickens, so there is a steady supply of eggs for you to purchase at low cost if you want fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your local pub is the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris and serves real ale; a dog-friendly climbers/walkers pub. It's around 15 minutes walk away and the lanes can be pitch black at night, so bring a torch :) A short drive further up the Llanberis Pass is the Pen y Gwryd hotel, where Hillary and Tenzing trained for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. They signed the ceiling, so don't forget to look out for that! The bar is famous for its photos of mountaineers who have trained on Snowdon for Everest.

Spacious private bedroom on Bethesda High Street with a beautiful view to the mountains. Just a couple of doors down from a number of take-aways and Londis, a 5 minute walk to Tesco Extra and a couple of local coffee shops. Just 10 minutes drive from Bangor town. It's really close to the event venue Neuadd Ogwen, which holds lovely concerts and films. The house is on the A5 that leads to Bangor, Snowdonia National Park, Zip World and Betws-y-Coed.
The bedroom is on the second floor of the house, it takes two flights of stairs to get there. The space is very quiet with a beautiful view to the mountains.
If you come on a weekend, we really recommend Fitzpatrick's for coffee and food, also walks around Parc Meurig and the cycling tracks around Ogwen Valley. Also visit the pottery shop and attend the gigs at Neuadd Ogwen.

Tack

An original slate miner's cottage built in the late 1800’s. Located in the slate capital of the world, offering a true taste of the past, but with the benefit of modern living. Our cottage is right next to the crossing for the Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway. We are conveniently located within walking distance of Llechedd Slate Mountain Adventure, Zip World and Bounce Below. A five-minute walk will take you into town, where there are shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Situated in the heart of Snowdonia, as well as its interesting history as a former slate mining town, Blaenau Ffestiniog offers a narrow gauge steam railway, the famous Llechwedd Zip World, Blaenau-Ffestiniog is also a popular destination for walkers with Snowdon around a half hour drive, Tryfan close by and Antur Stiniog for mountain bikers. The property offers two bedrooms, with many original features. Downstairs is a cosy, open plan living area, with Satellite television, super fast Wi-Fi (70-80Mbps) ambient lighting and a fully equipped kitchen. To the back of the property is a shower room and a space which houses the washing machine and dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master has a double bed and views of the railway. The children's room has bunk-beds and appealing decor. The front garden offers a sitting area to watch the trains and relax with your favourite drink surrounded by views of the mountains. We’ve had some confusion over recent weeks regarding the original stove. It has been left in as an historical feature as we love it but is no longer in service. The cottage has storage heaters, which keep the everything very warm and cosy. There are also 2 oil filled radiators for those especially chilly winter nights.
There is always plenty to do for all ages! Here are just a few of the many local attractions: Portmeirion Portmeirion is one of Wales' premier visitor attractions, with free parking, complimentary guided tours and audio visual show, six cafes and restaurants, half a dozen shops, gardens and beaches it is the perfect day out for all the family. Llechwedd Slate Mountain Adventure, Zip world and Bounce Below. Be ready for an experience of a lifetime, as you are on the doorstep of one of Wales top attractions! With Quarry Explorer, Llechwedd Deep Mine Tour, Titan zip line and an underground trampolining experience. Walking The best footpaths in Snowdinia! The Vale of Ffestiniog boasts a huge range of walks within stunning scenery, often away from the crowds of tourists that flock to other, perhaps, well more known areas of Snowdonia. Walks include the Cwmorthin, Rhosydd and the Cwm Bowydd trails. The Cynfal waterfall. The Vale of Ffestiniog Way. And the Dyffryn Maentwrog and Llyn Mair walks.
