Food scene
This is a great place to eat that is about a mile from the condo. If you leave the condo complex and turn left, it is about a mile on the right. There is always a wait and they do not take reservations so be prepared for that, but do not let it deter you! There is a main parking lot and there is an overflow parking lot across the road. There is a gazebo on the water, corn hole, and rocking chairs to pass the time while you wait. You can also get a drink from the bar and sit outside to have it while you wait. This is a great place for adults and also for families. When you go to the restroom, you will hear mosquitoes buzzing!!! The wait staff all have cute nicknames. The service is always amazing. Everything you may eat here is fabulous. My husband says the seafood is the best available at the beach. In the summer, we often come up off of the beach and one person will go put our name on the waitlist around 6:30 and then go back to the condo and get ready and return. That helps with the wait! Enjoy!

We enjoy eating here. The food is delicious and the view is amazing. The restaurant is small and does not take reservations. We have always had great servicer here. We enjoy eating outside and they have fans to help with the heat.

We love this place for pizza and subs! You can eat in or call ahead to order. We have been eating here for 15 years. It is a family owned business and they actually live on the premises. Very casual place.

Local Areas
This is a great place to visit! It is about seven miles from the condo. There are lots of great restaurants on the waterfront and tucked into historic homes. We love The Beaufort Grocery for a delicious meal. It is small and a bit crowed, but they have fabulous food always! There are multiple museums, shopping possibilities, ice cream/fudge shops, and sightseeing adventures. Expect to see the horses across the water on Shackleford Banks. There are also multiple tour opportunities here.

This is a great place to visit! It is about seven miles from the condo. There are lots of great restaurants on the waterfront and tucked into historic homes. We love The Beaufort Grocery for a delicious meal. It is small and a bit crowed, but they have fabulous food always! There are multiple museums, shopping possibilities, ice cream/fudge shops, and sightseeing adventures. Expect to see the horses across the water on Shackleford Banks. There are also multiple tour opportunities here.

Arrive early and have breakfast or lunch at Baker's Kitchen. The food is delicious ! You can shop while you wait at many downtown shops. The are multiple museums from the Pepsi Museum to the NC History Center at Tryon Palace. Visiting Tryon Palace is a must! Tickets are required and all information is available at their information center. They also have a map to find all of the downtown bears which are spread out all over the downtown area. There is so much to do. Plan to spend the day and explore. Good restaurants for dinner and lunch include The Chelsea, Morgans, Persimmons, and Captain Ratty's. You can eat on the roof at Captain Ratty's, although it is multiple flights of steps to get up there and I do not recommend it for little children or the elderly.

There is also a Dairy Queen there and a gift shop. Don’t forget to let your kids enjoy the outside playground. You may need mosquito repellant for the outside playground as it is in a wooded area.

Walk down the pier for great views, great fishing. You can get there by walking down the beach from the condo or driving. It is about 1.3 miles. We enjoy just walking there on the beach and walking down the pier. We have never ate at the Pier House so I cannot recommend it. Sometimes there is a small fee to walk down the pier. If going there via the beach, just go right when you go down to the beach from the condo walkway.

If going there via the beach, just go right when you go down to the beach from the condo walkway.

Be sure to climb the lighthouse itself (it’s one of the prettiest lighthouses in North Carolina) for absolutely magnificent views, to enjoy the bright, shallow water on the beach that is more reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea than most of the typical beaches on the Crystal Coast, and look for wild horses across the water on Shackleford Banks!
Since climbing the lighthouse is such a big part of a day trip to Cape Lookout, be sure to check the schedule to see when it is open, and hurry to grab your ticket and schedule your climbing time as soon as you arrive on the island! Since only a certain number of people are allowed to climb Cape Lookout at a given time, you’ll likely need to wait a bit to go up.
