This is a beautiful church near the colosseum you should ABSOLUTELY visit. It has three layers: the lowest is a Roman Domus, on top of it is built a Paleochristian church, and on top of that there is a baroque church! I think it’s emblematic of Rome and it’s multilayered history.

The great thing about Trastevere is that you are also very close to the Gianicolo, i.e the 8th hill of Rome. Here you will find this breathtaking fountain with a view, also known for being the protagonist of the opening shot of La Grande Bellezza.

The 10 hectare botanic garden of the Sapienza University is just a ten minute walk from your apartment. Entry is €3/4 for non-university students, but that’s a cheap price to enjoy the wonderful biodiversity of this park! It’s also great for picnics 🧺

This is another church, situated in Trastevere. It’s on the least touristy side of the neighborhood and it’s the church where the choir of Santa Cecilia (the national conservatory) performs on Christmas. It’s also beautiful in terms of architecture: its bell tower is the first of its kind in Rome and the columns at the entrance come from different periods!
