This Event Happens: January 1 - February 28, 2022 Every year, Jekyll Island commissions a group of highly skilled artisans from across the U.S. to create an array of stunning, handworked glass globes. During this two-month-long program, "Beach Buddies" are responsible for hiding plastic replicas in various locations across the island for lucky visitors to find. The best part? This treasure hunt is 100% finders, keepers! If you're one of the lucky ones to find a plastic orb hidden around Jekyll Island, take it to the Jekyll Island Guest Information Center to trade it in for the real thing!

Formerly known as the Jekyll Island Tree Lighting and Holidays in History, the new and improved Holly Jolly Jekyll lasts throughout the entire holiday season. The Historic District decorated in Christmas grandeur and special themed tours take guests back in time to Christmas during the Club era. The season begins with storytelling, caroling, craft workshops, and more. Want to meet your favorite holiday friends? Santa, Mrs. Claus, and even the Grinch will make an appearance!

This Event Happens: June 2022 For more than forty years, the Georgia Sea Islands Festival on St. Simons Island has celebrated the African American musical traditions, crafts and food of the coastal barrier islands. Nationally known and world renowned, the Georgia Sea Island Singers have been a highlight of the weekend since the festival on St. Simons Island was first organized in 1977 by original members of the group Mabel Hillary and Bessie Jones. The festival continues to be run by the leadership of the St. Simons African American Heritage Coalition.
