To be honest I don't recommend Temple Bar as it's the best definition of a "tourist trap" that I can think of. The beer is overpriced and apart from the pubs there isn't a lot to do or see there.

Food Scene
There's several buffet-style cafes here and you can really eat your fill for as little as €7. My favourites are the Greek and the Asian fusion.

Sightseeing
Dollymount is a great beach just outside Dublin city and is easily accessible on the #104 bus which passes close by my house. Cross the old wooden-bridge to get to the beach.

There's lots to see and do in Howth - checkout the fishing boats, seals, harbour, cliff-walks, bars, restaurants then get the DART (train) back into the city-centre.
