A great place for both swimming and evening walks.
Porto di San Giovanni li Cuti

The local beach of Catania is four kilometers long. There are free beaches and paid ones where the price includes a sun lounger and a beach umbrella. During the summer, the "D" bus runs along the beach starting from Piazza Paolo Borsellino and it's coast one euro for 90 minutes.

Gastronomy

The famous trattoria del Cavaliere. Excellent pasta. Bad risotto. Excellent mussels. Super wine in a decanter. Very popular horse meat. People say that the prices there are low because the mafia launders money there haha

There is a great selection of vegetables and fruits. Always ask the price. Maybe you are lucky and something will be cooked on the grill.

Информация о городе

This is a small town 15 km from Catania where the Cyclopean Isles are located. In summer you can rent a canoe or a catamaran. In winter, it's just nice to walk along the promenade under the sun and eat at local restaurants. If you are going to swim there, I highly recommend buying swimming shoes so as not to cut your feet on the carals. Bus 534 goes there from piazza Paolo Borsellino.

Достопримечательности

The best way to get to Etna is to drive yourself. If you don't have a car, there is a bus every day from Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII. This is Azienda Siciliana Trasporti and they are white. You will see them on the ring road. Tickets cost up to $10 round trip. Check-out time is at 8:15. But it pays to come a little earlier. The bus will go back at 16:00. So you can bring water and food with you. Also, there are a lot of different companies on the Internet that collect groups and organize excursions. The minimum price is from 40 euros for climbing the mountain and a tour. Let me tell you about the prices right away so that you understand what to expect. When you arrive at Etna, no matter how you arrive, you will arrive at the Rifugio Sapienza. This is a small village where it all begins. There is parking, shops with equipment, cafes, places to eat. And this is already at an altitude of 2000 meters out of 3300. Then you can go up on foot or take a ticket for the cable car, which costs about 30 euros. And you will rise to a height of 2400 meters. Then you can go on foot or take a ticket for public transport which costs another 30 euros. These are mountain buses which include an excursion and will rise to a height of 2900 meters. 2900 meters is the maximum height you can climb without a guide. Excursions to the peak of the mountain cost about 100 euros from travel companies, where everything is included. You will be picked up in the city and returned back. Be prepared that in winter it is very cold and snowy. A little dusty in summer. Choose good shoes for hiking in the mountains.
