A nice waterfall (when we've had rain) and fresh water swimming hole. Short walk to the top of the falls. Technically no dogs, but we take ours and many other do as well.

Not a swimming beach, but long stretch of sandy beach and great place to bring the dog for a good run. Only good at low tide. There is a cute little retro diner at the caravan park in 'town'

See Kangaroos on the Beach!!
If you have a car (or are planning to rent one), this is a great little off the beaten track place to go to see kangaroos on the beach. This is an EARLY morning day as they show up at dawn. About a 1.5hr drive south. Driftwood Tours also do trips there

Eungalla National Park is approximately a 2-2.5hr drive south.
From the viewing decks at Broken River, spot this shy creature in its natural habitat, as well as turtles and other wildlife in this beautiful National Park. The best times to see this special monotreme are at dawn or dusk.

There are many walking tracks which weave through sub-tropical rainforest. One of the most popular trails starts at the Finch Hatton picnic area and takes you on a 1.6 kilometre journey to the beautiful Araluen waterfall.
The granite boulders and surrounding vegetation make this an ideal place to take in the scenery. Take a refreshing dip in one of the nearby rock pools, a cooling haven favoured by locals in summer.
