Walks, sea swimming, beaches, outdoor places.

For sea swimming and a lovely walk head in this direction. Before you take the track to the campsite, on the left is a parking area and boats. The slipway provides a safe way of getting in and out of the sea. Wear a tow float, bright swimming hat, don't swim out into the shipping lanes for safe swimming in a sheltered spot. To walk follow the track to the campsite until you reach the sea. To your right is a coastal path that takes you all the way to Ysenby cliffs.

Northern Lights, 'The Merry Dancers'

If you want to see the Northern Lights if you download the 'Aurora Watch' app that will keep you updated about your chances of seeing the aurora. On FB the Orkney Aurora group posts photos and updates too. Heading out to the north of the island away from light pollution can enable you to have a greater chance of spotting them. Or you might be like me and end up missing some of the best displays of the year as your forgot to check your app or look out of the window!
