Clive and Alicia Pearson bought the Estate in 1922 ,great grandparents of the current owner Lady Emma Barnard. Come Summer time the garden is thriving and the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the rolling hills of the Shimmings Valley.
Although a bit of the beaten track, this true survival of a traditional country Inn is well worth a visit.

Watch people going off for trial flights and lessons and see cars going around the race track in the distance or practising on the skid pan.
Excellent food and courteous, friendly staff.

This lovely community run shop and deli. is walkable from The Barn in 30 minutes. If you want to enjoy getting some food shopping in an old fashioned way with a walk across the woods and fields to gather your vitals then this is a great place to go to.
Milk, butter, cheese, bread, fruit and veg (often locally sourced) sweets, papers, take away drinks and food, etc. Great for creating a picnic. Next door to the pub too.
If you want to go greener and leave the car behind then this is very handy.

The main high street has a variety of shops including a bakers, dress shop, cafes, second hand shops etc. If you explore the back streets you will find some very attractive ancient buildings and the old bookshop, micro brewery, health food shop etc.
