Food scene
Our favorite local Asian California cuisine is Ho Sum Bistro. This is a great option for take out, but you can also dine in (it’s small so get there early if you want to eat in). It’s very casual. We love their Ho Sum salad, dumplings, pot stickers, and chicken fried rice! They also have an all you can eat brunch which our three boys love. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the house.

407 31st StNext door to Ho Sum Bistro is a great tiny Mexican restaurant, Wild Taco. It has amazing tacos, salads, bowls and fajitas. They also have great breakfast burritos and egg options! It has a cute little patio if you can score one of the few tables outside and enjoy a margarita or a beer (great weekday happy hour!). It’s also great to-go and eat on the beach!
Best poke around! You can also grab delicious fish tacos or have a whole fish of the day platter grilled to perfection with fresh vegetables. Their guacamole is also insane. This is about an 18 minute walk from the house across from Lido Village.

If you love sushi and are looking for a really nice dining experience, Nobu is a splurge. It’s located in Lido Village on the water. The food and atmosphere is top notch.

Sightseeing
Only a 5 minute car ride or 10 minute bike ride puts you at the Balboa Fun Zone, complete with ferris wheel where you can see the bay and ocean all at once. There are restaurants, ice cream parlors and arcades, as well as many places to rent duffy boats, paddle boards, and other water crafts. It's also across from the Balboa Pier overlooking A Street.

Take the ferry ride from Balboa Fun Zone over to Balboa Island. There you can walk the island with views of the bay the entire time. Main Street on Balboa Island have great restaurants and stores!

Take a drive south down HWY 1 (it's beautiful!). Laguna is a quaint and fun artsy town. Hit the Sawdust Festival during the summer or just peruse the shops and art galleries! Stay for a meal (some amazing restaurants) and to watch the sunset over Main Beach!
