Spy a 134-foot iron maiden of sorts from the Lookout. St. George Reef Lighthouse was considered one of the most dangerous lighthouses to keep due to its inaccessibility. Built for function more than fashion, her service will inspire you. The construction of St. George Reef Lighthouse was in response to the sinking of the Brother Jonathan and took 11 years to finish. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1975, fending for herself against crashing waves for almost three decades. You’ll see her lighting the night sky now, having been restored in 2002. Select dates are available for a St. George Reef Lighthouse Helicopter Tours. These tours fill fast! Also enjoy walking the dunes or long stretch of beaches. Favorite spot for sunset viewing. Often windier so bring a jacket.
