Neighborhoods
We are within walking distance of the five major city parks. The apartment is practically on the corner of Las Heras and 9 de Julio streets, which is one block away from San Martin Street (Main Street). Las Heras Street is known for great eateries and late-night restaurants.
The "Peatonal" (a beautiful pedestrian street, lined with restaurants and outdoor seating) is 4 short blocks away, while there, you cannot miss going to the "Plaza Independencia", the "main square", and all its activities, especially during the weekends.
We also recommend going to "Aristides" Street, it is a must-go for local eateries and nightlife. All within walking distance along the beautiful tree-lined streets of Mendoza.

This place, not only is on Aristides and has a great vibe but also gives everyone that orders a meal for 2 a HUGE plank of cold cuts and cheeses, including prosciutto and other delicious traditional cuts. You will not go home hungry! This is one of our favorite restaurants.

Just a couple of blocks away from the apartment, this is a budget all-you-can-eat Argentine barbecue! Several local dishes and neverending meat and pasta. Don't forget to get a traditional "panqueque" (crepe) with Dulce de Leche or Caramelized apple you get that over at the pasta/ice cream stand. Heads up! Restaurants open for dinner at around 8:30 pm!

A staple in Mendoza, this restaurant has served Argentine Parrilladas (barbecues) and other dishes for as long as I can remember. This is right next to "La Lucia" and "El Asadito" restaurants. Just a short walk from Plaza Independencia.

This place serves a great beef sandwich and Milanesas a la napolitana!
Order the "Super Lomo Don Otto" with homemade bread or flatbread. This place is one of our regular haunts! So tasty and also close to the apartment and the serving sizes are good.

This is the main city square, everything happens around this place. Great water fountains synchronized with music, especially at night and during weekends. Arts and crafts fairs and other events are commonplace. Come here by the pedestrian road Sarmiento for added coolness.
On the west side of the park, across from the Hyatt/casino is also where you take the hop-on hop-off bus called "Mendobus"

A beautiful pedestrian street that connects Main Street (San Martin) with the main square (Plaza Independencia). Great for getting an afternoon coffee and just people-watching. Not the best of food spots, though I have heard "Azufre" is not that bad among the eateries there.

This park celebrates the life of General San Martin, liberator of Argentina, Chile, Peru and Bolivia. He was a local resident and assembled his armies here, in Mendoza before traveling across the Andes mountain range!
Do not confuse this small park with the "Parque General San Martin" of the same name. The other one is hundreds of acres in size and has a larger-than-life monument at the top of a hill. Must see.

This monument is a can't miss. The views from this mountain (just a few minutes from downtown) are great but the monument itself is unforgettable. Take the Mendobus hop-on hop-off tour for this and a tour of the hundred-acre park it is located in.
