If you like walking, 5 minutes drive away is Box and it offers another village with walks in all directions. The Palladian Way and Macmillan Way can be followed. Or follow the river to explore the valley and spot Red Kites, Cormorants, Swans and Herons. Woodpeckers, Dippers and Kingfishers can also be spied or heard.

The pretty town of Corsham has an old high street, which has been used for scenes in Poldark and other period dramas. The Flemish Weaver was the pub used in the series. Walk by the post office and turn right. You will reach Corsham Court and from here you can walk across the parklands to the lake.

Walk through to The Holbourne Museum for a coffee/ wine in the beautiful café. Explore the free museum and then walk up Great Pulteney Street to the centre of Bath. You can catch a river cruiser back to Bathampton Mill but check the times and availability.

Take a picnic and sit under a tree or enjoy the excellent cafe onsite. These gardens are a special place. They just feel beautiful to be in and all seems calm and serene when you are there. Not huge so you won't need a whole day but a couple of hours here will be well spent. 4 miles away. National Trust.

Travel into Bath
The bus stop is only one minute from here and is a very good option. 18/20 minutes.
If you prefer to drive into Bath, it is an easy route. Turn left at the clock tower and stay on this road. Go straight over at the roundabout onto the dual carriageway and then first exit. Left again and this leads you into the city.
I like to park in the Cattle Market car park in Walcot Street. It is this side of town / middle. If you want to spend a long time in Bath, Charlotte Street car park is the cheapest for all day stays.
