If you go to Joshua Tree and don't visit the park, did you even go to Joshua Tree?? Even if you're not a big hiker, it's worth a drive through the park to marvel at all the rock formations. Truly one of the most unique National Parks.

Be mindful of dirt roads and driving conditions.
Some dirt roads are sandier than others and can make for a more challenging drive. Always drive cautiously on dirt roads and be mindful of ruts or wildlife crossings in the road. Flash floods happen quickly in the desert, if you see flooding ahead, turn around and head back immediately. Always carry extra water in your car.

Be respectful of the locals and environment.
Be mindful of city noise ordinance from 10pm-7pm and turn off any lights not in use. Many local residents and local wildlife are extra sensitive to light and noise pollution, especially at night. The darker the skies, the brighter the stars.

Layers and water!
Desert temps change drastically and quickly. Dress in layers, wear sun protection, and always bring a hat with you as the desert sun can feel especially brutal if you're not used to this climate. Always bring more water than you think you need.
