You can Uber anywhere.
Uber is the best way to get around. You can get really good fees and don't have to deal with local currency. Avoid red taxis as they tend to charge a lot more to tourists.

Use your credit card, not cash.
In Costa Rica we take credit and debit cards everywhere. There is no need to carry tons of cash. Have some spare change with you for any emergency, but use your card everywhere. That way also you will save money by using you bank's exchange rate instead of the no-so-friendly exchange rate of local merchants.

Umbrella or coat
It rains, always, everywhere, all the time. It may seem that it won't, but trust me, it will. Have an umbrella or a waterproof coat if you go out.
And it rains a lot in quantity too, like it seems like a hurricane.

It's a city, be safe.
We want you to enjoy your stay, so please be careful while walking on the street, specially at night. The odds are the nothing will happen, but keep your valuables on you at all times and avoid leaving you bag unattended.
