the be all end all of small but amazing rooms.. i've seen everyone from Marilyn Manson to Dwight Yoakum here - be warned though -you will never want to see a show in a large venue again - booking 930 is a coup for any new band and if you haven't heard of the band, you soon will - if they are playing 930 they are great- you won't see a bad show- ever... a DC institution if you are a live music fan this room is a MUST. xo

weirdly this place stocks it all! and its just across the street in the bowels of Gallery Place :-) It has a World Market, full of fun foods and they stock all the convenience store staples, shampoos, pop tarts, soda pop etc.

Make an appointment to stop in and see your congressman! ~you do not need an appointment to go to the cap- just to see someone in particular ~ You can sit in the gallery and watch the proceedings, its one of my favorite places to take folks because its not as busy as some of the other places on the mall...and it really makes government real to folks... plus it is gorgeous!

If your'e a bit more esoteric.. the indie foreign art house films all show here.. just a few blocks away and the food is pretty good... beer and wine encouraged... which i think totally makes movies better
