It's great, off the beaten path. Fantastic selection of tequilas and tacos. Mostly only known to locals. Live DJs (which I am one there sometimes) setting a nice ambiance on Sat and Sun 11am until 3pm for a fantastic all you can eat brunch.

The Soup Peddler is a local business started by one man literally making soup and delivering it to people on his bike. He made enough money doing this to invest in an actual Soup Peddler restaurant. He now has 4 around the city and the one near my place (it's at 12th and lamar) is the newest. Great soups, salads, smoothies and grilled cheese sandwiches (even breakfast tacos early in morning). Support local!

Drinks & Nightlife
Great couple spot. You have to move a bookcase to get into this dimly lit joint so that should tell you enough about the secrecy of the place. Live music and DJs certain nights. Fantastic cocktails

If you like art, check it out. Not far from my place and better than you'd think for a town this size.

Parks & Nature
First of all I will say go to Barton Springs downtown but that's an obvious must. Krause on the other hand is outside of Austin but a nice slice of hidden paradise. If you are mobile I say it is a must see and only takes 35 min to get to. There is a gardens to walk and meditate in and there is a man made pool as well as an epic springs that you can swim in equipped with rope swing. Wander down where there are a bunch of tree stumps in the water and it reminds you of where the ewoks live or something.

Just go, you will love the unique shops and all that is in them. don't forget to check out the side streets once in a while as well.

It used to be much more beautiful with huge murals but now it is simply a collective paint space. But it is only 200 feet away so go check it out and make sure you go to the top and snap a pic or 2, one of the best views of the skyline in all of Austin. You can see almost everything from the top wall.
