Machiya near Palace - A day in Khaki Muromachi (E)

As featured on the NYTimes T list, this property is a "Kyomachiya", a traditional Japanese home over 100 years old. It has been revamped from a "Nishijin-ori" (traditional Japanese textile) factory. It is located in the traditional Kamigyo Ward, minutes walk from the Imperial Palace. We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.

Kinkakuji temple, Hirono Shrine, Kitano tenman gu, are easy to access from this townhouse. Comfy 4 bed room house has 10 set of Futon bed and up to 10 people can stay. Everything you need for staying is provided including shampoo, towels and so on. Because of this facility has acquired budget hotel business permit, compliance with the law."
