A stylishly furnished king-sized annex overlooking the garden with its own private entrance. The room is at the back of our Victorian townhouse and has its own ensuite shower room and a private parking space. It is located in central Falmouth close to the town centre, beaches, rail stations and some of the university campus buildings. It is ideal for couples, parents visiting their kids at university and business travellers. Please note there's no breakfast, only tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
The room and its ensuite are in an annex with its own private entrance through the garden. Guests are welcome to use the garden. Please note that there are no cooking facilities, but there is a small silent fridge. It is a quiet and comfortable space for a good nights sleep with its king-sized bed and blackout curtains. There is a private ensuite with walk in shower. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and towels are provided. There is a 'storage corridor' with plenty of room to put suitcases etc and guests can hang clothes on hooks and hangers. There is a completely silent fridge, a DAB radio/bluetooth speaker next to the bed, and a desk to work at, or to sit and drink a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Please note that no breakfast is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own things to eat, or there are plenty of lovely cafes for breakfast in Falmouth close by.
The house is near the town centre, so there are a lot of great restaurants and some nice independent shops within easy walking distance, and a Tesco supermarket less than 5 mins walk into town. There are fab independent cafes called Espressini and Good Vibes Cafe close by which do great breakfasts and coffee, or there is a Wetherspoon pub/restaurant 2 mins walk into town which does a good full English breakfast for very little money. Or I can recommend Gylly Beach Cafe for breakfast - it is only 20 mins walk and literally on the beach!

Lovely, snug flat perfect for two guests looking to hide away somewhere in the middle of Falmouth, with gated parking and outside seating area overlooking the harbour.
Falmouth is well known for its waterside activities, and lively town vibe; and this flat gives great access to both. It's bang smack in the middle of the town, right on the water, and has the rarest of advantages in town - its own parking spot, which is inside a secure gated area. Newly refurbished, it's clean, warm and comfortable, but also (hopefully) tastefully kitted out with some home comforts. For sunny days, you won't be found wanting for access to any number of activities, safe in the knowledge that your car doesn't need to move after x number of hours. Regular activities on the main town squares are within easy walking distance, boat trips from the pier are on your doorstep, and the ferry to St Mawes less than 100 metres away. For rainy days, there's the telly with access to Sky...plus a variety of board games...and a PS3 with some old school classics...not to mention the bookshelf...or DVDs. Lastly, I do love a good coffee, so there's a nice Nespresso machine here to be used.
Falmouth is a year-round vibrant town, unique to Cornwall in that there is the omnipresent university crowd who give the area its energy. Three great beaches, countless good eateries, river cruises, fishing trips, walking routes of any length, pubs-a-plenty, and near to any number of days out...this town really is a great centre to a south Cornwall break.

Tucked away on the banks of the River Fal, our secluded, wild location is one of the most unique settings in Cornwall. At the heart of the venue is the 300 year old Lost Cottage of Penperth. In addition there are 4 individual accommodation pods; the Treehouse, Potting Shed, Hunting Lodge and Shepherd's Hut. Set within an ancient oak woodland in a private creek, the scene is wild, creative and peaceful. It is the perfect getaway for big groups, families, friends, corporate and more.
There are 18 beds in total: the Treehouse (Sleeps 2), Potting Shed (4), Hunting Lodge (Sleeps 2), Shepherd's Hut (Sleeps 2) and the Cottage (Sleeps 8). Our adventurous venue has a large fire pit, long outdoor feast table, hammock area overlooking the river, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen including clay pizza oven and gas hobs. There are two toilets, two hot outdoor showers, a washing up area, as well as a large versatile barn, with wood burner and indoor seating; perfect for parties, dining, reading and relaxing. All this plus acres of woodland to roam and wild swimming in the river. The Fal estuary is also the perfect spot for kayaking, canoeing or fishing if you have your own equipment, or subject to availability, we can contact local companies to take groups out on the river in Canadian Canoes or offer kayak hire direct from our creek.
The Roseland Peninsula is a beautiful, peaceful part of Cornwall. The King Harry Ferry (also known as the moving bridge) makes it extremely accessible to Truro and Falmouth. The Roseland hosts some of the best beaches on the south coast (Porthbeor, Towan, Porthcurnick and Pendower just to name a few). All great for swimming and beach days and all within 15 minutes drive from our venue. Local villages such as Portscatho and St Mawes provide convenience stores, pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as picturesque views of the coastline. Boat trips from St Mawes to Falmouth run daily and frequently all year round (except in very bad weather). The Fal river - where we are based - is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world. It boasts beautiful scenery and wildlife. We highly recommend including some time on the river during your stay.

    Dinah2017-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Denna stuga är bara lysande. Allt vackert rent och fräscht. Platsen är helt perfekt. Stuart och hans fru mycket vänliga och hjälpsamma. Jag skulle definitivt stanna kvar igen.

A minute's walk from the beach, this bright former fisherman's cottage is in the centre of the tranquil village of Portscatho on the south coast of Cornwall. With its generous proportions and rich, colourful style, Sunnyside sleeps up to 4 adults and a child. A local pub, coffee shop and restaurant are moments away, while the award-winning Hidden Hut is a short walk across the cliffs. Short-stays are available out of season, so please enquire if you'd like to book a shorter stay.
On a private road about 100 yards from the beach is a row of colourful fisherman's cottages. In the centre of these, cheerfully decorated with bright yellow detailing, is 2 Sunnyside. The open plan living space with its wood burning stove is spacious and ideal for families. It’s all brightly decorated with a mixture of carefully chosen modern furniture and vintage pieces from South Africa and Mexico. The book-filled master bedroom is a generous size with no expense spared on comfort, while the twin beds in the second bedroom can be connected into a full size bed. There is a third bedroom which can be either a study/reading room, or a kid's bedroom (the daybed can be used as a bed for a child). There is a family bathroom with a bath and shower. The kitchen leads onto an enclosed courtyard with a dining table. Just inside the back entrance to the house is a "wet area" for wetsuits, beach toys, boots, etc., leading directly onto a dedicated laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, basin and clothes rack. In winter, the cottage is fully equipped for home cooking; there is a selection of recipe books in the kitchen, kitchenware is largely Le Creuset with porcelain imported from Portugal. A selection of kids' games and DVDs are provided.
Portscatho is a picturesque harbour town overlooking a small sandy beach. The coastal path cuts right through the village leading, in one direction, towards the Hidden Hut and Pendower beach, and in the other towards the long and sandy Towan beach. Along the way there are many other hidden coves and beaches to explore. The calm sea makes Portscatho beach ideal for children, while paddle boarders and swimmers enjoy the sea year-round. Portscatho has a local pub, butcher, art galleries, and a well-stocked village store. Foodies will appreciate Tatam's coffee shop and the wood-fired Taverna, with its regularly changing menu and locally sourced ingredients, both sited directly over the beach with uninterrupted views across the bay to Gull Rock. A 10 minute walk over the cliffs brings you to the infamous Hidden Hut cafe, whose ‘feast night’ dinners sell out within seconds of opening. The cosy, traditional Plume of Feathers pub is a minute's walk from the property. During the summer months, Curgurrell's fishery and farm shop - over the cliffs - stocks fresh produce, including fish from their own harbour.
  • Vilken underbar plats!

Portloe is considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of the Roseland peninsula and one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valleys has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". Portloe is an ideal place to stay on the Roseland Peninsula. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet it has a really good local pub & hotel. The village itself is only a short drive from the other villages such as St Mawes. The city of Truro is also within a 25 minute drive. The Lugger Hotel with its excellent restaurant is only a few steps away and the Ship Inn is a short walk. The New Inn at Veryan serves food. There is also the Portloe Tea Room nearby. There is no general store in Portloe, however there are shops at Veryan (1.4 miles) and a Londis store at Bessy Beneath (3 miles). Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.

The Roseland Peninsula is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and forms one of the finest sections of Cornwall's South Coast. From Mevagissey in the east to the Fal Estuary to the west, the Roseland has been drawing visitors for years with its splendid coastline, unique gardens, historic villages and superb sailing waters. A truly magnificent part of Cornwall, the Roseland is a wonderful place to spend a memorable holiday. From The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project in one direction and Falmouth and the National Maritime Museum in the other the Roseland is brimming with places to visit and things to do. The area is an excellent centre for visiting Cornwall's famous gardens, most of the major gardens all lie within a 25 mile radius; and are particularly magnificent in the spring when the magnolias, rhododendrons and camelias are in flower. The closest village to Crugsillick is Veryan - most famous for its nineteenth century thatched Round Houses. There are five in all, two pairs of which stand at each end of the village and another in the centre. They were originally built by the vicar, the Reverend Jeremiah Trist for his daughters and built in the round so that there were no corners where the devil could hide. A crucifix on the top of each one adds extra protection! Veryan has a children's playground, an excellent village shop and a good pub. Very close to Crugsillick is the lovingly restored Melinsey Mill which serves lunches and cream teas.A couple of miles to the east, Portloe is considered one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall. Its steep sided valley has meant that it has managed to escape development over the years and many buildings differ little from when they were built. Sir John Betjeman said of Portloe "One of the least spoiled and most impressive of Cornish fishing villages". The Lugger Hotel has an excellent restaurant and the Ship Inn is also a good place to eat.St Mawes is a lovely small town with lots of places to eat from smart hotels to fish and chips, small shops and a pretty harbour with opportunities for sailing, kayaking and fishing. St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Garden has a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. There are many pretty churches in the area but St Just-in-Roseland has, arguably, the most photographed church in Cornwall. The 13th century church sits quietly tucked away on the edge of the creek surrounded by exotic trees and shrubs.Portscatho overlooks the dramatic Gerrans Bay towards Nare Head. A quiet waterside village, Portscatho has a very pretty harbour, a good pub, an excellent general store, two modestly priced restaurants and three galleries. Above the closest beach, Porthcurnick, is the Hidden Hut - a well-known and excellent lunch, tea and ice cream venue. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists. More than anything, Portscatho is a place to relax.Events on the Roseland get a bit busier in August when sailing regattas, carnivals and fun days take place in many villages and the waters of the Carrick Roads. Year round, though, it is the beauty of the coast here that brings people back again and again. There are some stunning beaches around Gerrans Bay from Carne and Pendower in the east stretching round through Porthcurnick (Rosevine) and on to Towan and Porthbeor to the west, they are nearly all very accessible and have plenty of exposed sand at low tide and magical rock pools which can keep children engaged for hours. Most importantly compared to the hustle and bustle of the north coast they are comparatively empty!

Like many such villages, smuggling played a large part in Portloe's history with many tales of cat and mouse games played between locals and the authorities! In 1824, the problem became so bad that Customs ordered the construction of a Watch House, boathouse and slipway in a vain attempt to deter the illicit trade. Accommodation Ground Floor: Back door is situated at this level and is approached through a narrow alleyway to the rear of the property it opens into a hallway with doors to a large twin bedroom, a wet room with shower WC and hand basin and stairs leading to: First Floor: Large Open plan living / dining and small kitchen area, with fully fitted units and all facilities. Further pubs, shops & restaurants are also available in Tregony, Ruan Lanihorne, Portscatho & St Mawes.Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. There are miles of coastal and countryside footpaths to explore, particularly along past Towan beach and out to St Anthony's Head. Portscatho was once a busy fishing harbour, but now it has become a haven for artists due to the striking light which is particularly good in the morning sun. More than anything, Portscatho is a relaxing place. The beaches such as Porthcurnick, Towan and Porthbeor are simply idyllic and these are only minutes from the village. With a superb local butchers shop, 2 great little pubs and a well-stocked local store, Portscatho and Gerrans are a lovely place to spend a holiday.St Mawes Castle, built by Henry VIII in the 16th century sits on Castle Point at the mouth of the River Fal. At the top of St Mawes, Lamorran Gardens house a wonderful collection of tropical plants with lovely views down into the Harbour. The Veryan Roundhouses are a must see, on the way to Nare Head, where you will find the most spectacular views of Gerrans Bay. The little village of Portloe nestles in lovely valley and is one of Cornwall's quintessential spots. Portscatho has a number of art galleries and many artists find the light in this harbour village inspires much of their work. The Roseland Inn at Philleigh is a 16th century pub just waiting for you to visit, as is the newly refurbished Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne, perfect for that afternoon Cornish Cream Tea, now run by Tregothnan Estate home to the UK's first tea plantation. The most popular thing to do though on the Roseland is simply to walk and enjoy some of Cornwall's most beautiful coastline.Events on the Roseland reach fever point in August when sailing regattas, carnivals, fayres and fun days take place all over the Roseland and the waters of the Carrick Roads. It is a memorable place for many people who return year after year to enjoy the magic of this beautiful place.

The cottage has low beamed ceilings, bags of character and the benefit of a patio garden to the rear. April Cottage welcomes well behaved groups of young people and also dogs at no additional charge.
April Cottage is a pretty little 3 bedroom terrace cottage in the tiny village of St Just in Roseland, just a 5 minute drive north of the famous village of St Mawes. This is a really traditional holiday cottage with bags of character, low beams, some slightly older style furniture and fittings, but it is a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay. The cottage is positioned on the main road and there can be a little disturbance from traffic, however this is clearly represented in the price and it is the best value three bedroom property on the Roseland by far! Particular care has to be taken when leaving or entering the property with young children or dogs due to the proximity of the road. Although April Cottage is in a busy position, it is a very convenient location. The whole of the Roseland Peninsula including all the wonderful beaches, walks and waterborne activities are just a short drive away. There is a stone beach, boatyard and boat launching point in the nearby St Just Creek which is a 10 minute walk away. The incredibly pretty church and churchyard at St Just cannot be missed during your stay.Accommodation Ground Floor: Kitchen, dining room and sitting room with separate family bathroom with over bath shower & WC.First Floor: Master double bedroom with king size bed. The village of St Just in Roseland is located about 2 miles north of St Mawes. A small village, it has a pretty creek and the quite delightful church and wonderful churchyard. No visit to the Roseland is complete without seeing this peaceful place. Probably the only sub tropical churchyard in the British Isles, it is a beautiful & tranquil place with some unique flora. The creek is home to a boatyard and not much else! Although the beaches are of shingle, you can reach some great sunbathing spots from here with some wonderful views over the water towards Mylor.Nearby, you can explore the D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Bar and nearby Smugglers Cottage which also houses a little display. It is also is one of the best spots in the area for a cream tea!! The walks around Messack Point on the north side of St Just in Roseland Creek offer some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads. The tiny tranquil Cornish village of Philleigh is nearby and is famous for its sixteenth cetury pub, The Roseland Inn.St Mawes & Portscatho are within 5 minutes of April Cottage and offer some lovely beaches & plenty of watersports. Portscatho has a good general store, a Post Office plus a couple of pubs & restaurants at the nearby hotels. St Mawes has plenty of facilities including a few hotels with fine restaurants including the famous Hotel Tresanton, plus a few pubs, a good Co-op general store, a butchers, chemist & post office.
