Nearby multiple wilderness areas, superb mountain stream fishing, small lake fishing, swimming area & beach, wildlife management areas & miles of trails offer tons of natural amenities and outdoor opportunities.

Relax with the whole family on this peaceful working farm. Enjoy the farm animals and running stream in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Tour the Blue Ridge Parkway or Creeper Trail. Historic Wythe County, Wohlfahrt Theatre, Abingdon, Barter Theatre, Big Walker Lookout Shot Tower, Draper Mercantile and so much more. Get unplugged, no distracting internet. Fish in the pond or make smores at the firepit. Experience the farm with optional homegrown meals/tours. A little piece of heaven.

The Starlite

The Starlite at Ruakh is a private luxury geodesic dome tucked along the edge of the woods on our 87-acre farm in Tazewell County, Virginia. Designed for quiet getaways, slow mornings, clear night skies, and time by the fire, this 500-square-foot dome blends the comfort of a thoughtfully finished stay with the feeling of being close to the land. Inside, you will find a king bed, modern comfort, a private bathroom, heating and air, and the kind of details that make the stay feel intentional.

Rudy’s Roost, Rental Cabin near Back of the Dragon

Quiet but located on a working farm with chickens, cows and fruit trees. You may see us tending to the farm or animals.. please remember that emergencies do happen, and sometimes you’ll see us multiple times a day and sometimes not at all! We live on the property so if you’re looking for something stand alone, and secluded where you won’t see anyone this isn’t the place for you, we do try to give you as much space as farm life allows. Please park on the gravels only and not the grass.

Location, location, location! This newly-renovated home is the perfect setting for a peaceful getaway to the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Situated in a quiet residential neighborhood, you will have easy access to some of the most popular attractions in Marion, Virginia. We are one block from the famous Back of the Dragon and near the heart of downtown Marion. Hungry Mother State Park is just five minutes away. The Emory & Henry School of Health Sciences is within walking distance.

Creekside Bungalow (at Dream Rock Silo)

We have been renovating an old 1950's dairy barn since 2013. We fell in love with this location because the barn is set in a beautiful valley in the Appalachian Mountains. You have to drive through the creek to get to the barn. We built this private bungalow on the creekside of the barn with its private entrance. It is close enough to the creek to hear it from your bedroom window. *** We also have 2 other Suites available: Dream Rock Silo, sleeps 2 Rustic Rooster Room, sleeps 6

Campside Cottage

Campside Cottage--a vacation retreat located across from Camp Burson at the entrance of Hungry Mother State Park in Marion, Virginia. Relax around the campfire, hike or bike the many trails, lounge on the beach with a good book, or cast your line to catch a big one! Enjoy the beautiful views of the Appalachian mountains while paddleboarding or kayaking Hungry Mother Lake. Don't forget to go shopping or sample the restaurants of America's Coolest Hometown!
