I am a 60 old personal chef and cooking teacher. I have lived in San Francisco for the last 30 years, most of that time within 2 blocks of Alamo Square Park. I worked at one of the city's most famous "attractions/institutions" for 22 years (Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon) where I was Associate Production Manager and Wardrobe Master. Doug and Richard made us feel extremely welcome as soon as they greeted us upon arrival. Their home is delightfully filled with the history of their lives - art, collections, decor, trinkets, and three adorable cats. The bedroom is really large with sofas, table and chairs, and you can slip in and chill out if you do not want to be in the communal area.
The home is just like the pictures: full of character and love. Although both Doug and Rich are extremely friendly (and will happily recommend eateries, sights, transport etc), they also respect our privacy and know when we need a little quiet time. We couldn’t ask for more. This is not a hotel. This is a home. We can’t recommend it high enough and are sorry to leave.
