The castle of San Juan de las Águilas is a military fortification built in the 18th century that is located above the current town of Águilas. It is a Site of Cultural Interest since 1982.
That is the castle you see from the terrace view. Really spectacular view from up there. Bring water if you walk up there a hot day! The walk is worth it, you can see all of Águilas from up there. There is a museum inside also.
Dating back to the eighteenth century, the castle has been restored, including a museum and its one of the best exhibits of the city’s culture. From the top there is a breathtaking view of the town and its surroundings. The fortification is composed of three blocks: The Fort of San Juan, San Pedro Battery and a connecting link, used for defending the castle’s access and as a sidewalk housing the artillery.
