St Winefride's Well Shrine has welcomed Pilgrims and visitors for over 1300 years
One of our guests suggested a visit here. She said it was full of history and a spiritual experience. We have never visited the site, however I drive past it often and it is beautiful.
One of the oldest continually visited pilgrimage site in Great Britain. It's is said to have healing properties. Saint Winifred is a 12 th century martyr. The well is known as "the Lourdes of Wales". Richard I visited 1189 to pray for the success of the crusades.
St Winefride's Well is a well located in the town of Holywell, Flintshire, in Wales. It claims to be the oldest continually visited pilgrimage site in Great Britain and is a grade I listed building and scheduled ancient monument
