Café de Sluyswacht was built in 1695 as a lockkeeper's house on the St. Anthoniesluis. After years of neglect and various destinations, the building has been completely restored and has been used as a café for five years. It is literally in the shadow of the brand new Amsterdam School of the Arts!

when all terraces are overcrowded there might be free space on this one. Very nice located.

This very crooked free-standing house was built in 1695 as the lockkeeper's house, opposite to Rembrant House Museum. One of the oldest pictures of this lock was painted by Rembrant when he still lived across from it. In the last twenty years Sluyswacht had been a cafe.

Nice small old café. We call these bruin (Brown) cafés. They are Nice old pubs with no music and a lot of friendlyness. It is located in front of the Rembrandt house
