Riding tram 28 has become one of Lisbon's most popular activities. It’s a journey back in time, over hills and medieval streets, in vintage trams from the 1930s that are still part of the city's public transportation network

It's perhaps the most popular activity: a ride back in time, over the hills and medieval streets, in vintage trams that are still part of the city's public transportation network and they go past some attractions. Tickets may be purchased from the driver, but most passengers use pre-paid cards, including most tourists who buy the Lisboa Card (recommended to avoid having to get a ticket each time you board, and to save money). As you step on and off, watch your wallet and other possessions, as this is a major touristic attraction and therefore a favourite target of pickpockets who easily blend in with tourists.

Tram 28 passes through all major Lisbon neighbourhoods. You will see side streets you wouldn’t stumble across otherwise. Perfect to get to know the city, the views, architecture details and famous hand painted tiles.
